  6. Weathering the differencepublished at 17:28 Greenwich Mean Time

    Leicester v Sharks (17:30 GMT)

There was a big interview with Handre Pollard in the Times, external during the week. Understandably, he didn't give away too much about his future, and even managed to be fairly non-committal about the English winter.

"My wife and I have really enjoyed it here," he said. "In December, it's not like living in the south of France or Cape Town, but you embrace [the weather], the people are amazing and it's a great club to be part of."

Siya Kolisi, Eben Etzebeth and Bongi Mbonambi are not involved tonight, but arguably the key figure from last year's World Cup final is. Leicester fly-half Handre Pollard's boot proved crucial as the Springboks triumphed in France - England fans may still have nightmares about his late, late penalty in the semi-final, while he kicked all 12 points as New Zealand were edged out at the Stade de France.

Pollard's future at Leicester is the subject of speculation at the moment - his contract reportedly runs out at the end of this season - although he did tell BBC Radio Leicester this week: "I'm just happy being at Leicester at the moment and I will enjoy every minute I have here."

It's been pointed out this week too that he now has a permanent family connection with the area: His son Hunter was born earlier this year at Leicester General Hospital.

  8. 'It's up to us to make the fire'published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time

    Leicester v Sharks (17:30 GMT)

Leicester head coach Michael Cheika, speaking to Premier Sports: "I said to the boys: This is Leicester. We haven't been here for a while, it's over two months since we played at home, it's up to us to build that connection with the fans and make the fire.

"One thing I know is that South Africa produce nothing but high quality rugby players. The Sharks are well organised and well coached. The game is much more about us. We're rebuilding after the break, and this is an opportunity to take another step on the way.

"It's about physicality and intensity and then the quality takes over."

Seven weeks from today, the Aviva Stadium will play host to Ireland against England in the Six Nations.

Not quite the same buzz here today just yet as we await Leinster against Clermont, although there is a pocket of travelling French fans trying to make themselves heard above the din of the PA system.

The build-up to this one has been dominated by positional switches for two centres.

All Black number 12 Jordie Barrett makes his first Leinster start in the 15 jersey after injury to Hugo Keenan, while Clermont have opted to give Australian Irae Simone a first run at fly-half.

Should be fascinating to see how both players go.

It's been a rough weekend so far for the Irish provinces in the Champions Cup - can Leinster improve things?

  10. Barrett handed first start as Leinster make five changespublished at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time

Leinster v Clermont Auvergne (17:30 GMT)

Jordie Barrett will make his first start for Leinster tonight at the Aviva Stadium.

All Black Barrett signed from the Hurricanes on a short-term deal at the end of November and scored a try on his debut off the bench in last week's 35-12 win over Bristol Bears.

The 67-times capped New Zealander takes the place of the injured Ciaran Frawley at full-back.

Sam Prendergast retains the number 10 shirt after scoring two tries in the away victory over the English Premiership side.

Leinster head coach Leo Cullen has made five changes in total to his starting team, with captain Caelan Doris, Liam Turner, Andrew Porter and Thomas Clarkson also being included.

Clermont defeated Benetton 28-0 in their opening Pool 1 encounter.

Leinster: Barrett; Turner, Ringrose, Henshaw, O'Brien; Prendergast, Gibson-Park; Porter, Kelleher, Clarkson; Joe McCarthy, Ryan; Deegan, van der Flier, Doris (capt).

  12. Kolisi among Sharks' Springbok absenteespublished at 17:19 Greenwich Mean Time

    Leicester v Sharks (17:30 GMT)

Sharks started their Champions Cup campaign with a 39-21 victory over Exeter Chiefs last week - a game in which they were down to 12 players briefly towards the end after having three players sin-binned.

John Plumtree's side arrive in the East Midlands without a number of their Springbok stars.

Bongi Mbonambi, Eben Etzebeth, Grant Williams, Lukhanyo Am, Makazole Mapimpi, Vincent Koch and Siya Kolisi are not in the squad, as flanker Phepsi Buthelezi comes in to captain.

The Sharks do include a pair of Springbok brothers, with Jordan Hendrikse at full-back and Jaden Hendrikse at scrum-half.

Both team line-ups in full next.

  13. Montoya and Pollard back for Leicesterpublished at 17:18 Greenwich Mean Time

    Leicester v Sharks (17:30 GMT)

Let's take you through the team news, starting at Welford Road. Leicester, beaten 42-28 in Bordeaux on matchday one, have welcomed back six internationals.

Captain Julian Montoya, South Africa fly-half Handre Pollard, Wales' Tommy Reffell and Nicky Smith, and England's George Martin all return to a strong Tigers XV after missing the trip to France.

In a further boost for Leicester head coach Michael Cheika, Scotland lock Cam Henderson comes on to the bench to make his first appearance since December last year after recovering from injury.

England's Freddie Steward is once again at full-back, while international team-mate Jack van Poortvliet partners Pollard in the half-backs, with Martin in the second row.

  14. Double bill incomingpublished at 17:16 Greenwich Mean Time

Leicester v Sharks, Leinster v Clermont (17:30 GMT)

We'll feed in any further reaction from Kingspan Stadium as we get it. In the meantime, we've got more live rugby union on the way.

Two Champions Cup matches down, four to go on this Super Saturday. We've seen Northampton pick up an outstanding win over Bulls in the heat of Pretoria, and we've seen Ulster rather frozen out by a ruthless second-half display of attacking by Bordeaux-Begles.

Now it's a double bill. In Pool One, Leicester attempt to bounce back from defeat last weekend against what could probably be described as a weakened Sharks side. And in Pool Two, we've got updates from Aviva Stadium in Dublin as Leinster attempt to follow up a winning start by beating Clermont. Who also had a winning start.

  15. 'We ran out of steam' - Soperpublished at 17:15 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Ulster 19-40 Bordeaux

Dan Soper on BBC Radio Ulster: "We put a huge effort in first half and we ran out of steam a wee bit. They had a lot of power come off their bench in the last quarter and we weren't able to handle that, and we made errors in the final quarter we didn't in the first half."

    Ulster 19-40 Bordeaux

Bordeaux leave Belfast with a bonus point win after a dominant second half in Belfast.

Despite holding a narrow 19-14 lead for Ulster at the break, the hosts were held scoreless in the second half as the French side came alive.

Damian Penaud, Guido Petti, Louis Bielle-Biarrey and Ugo Boniface notched scores after the break as their side went up a couple of gears and left Ulster in their dust.

A disappointing evening for Richie Murphy's men who have suffered two defeats in a row in the Champions Cup.

    Ulster 19-40 Bordeaux

    Tony McWhirter

Ulster have been really disappointing second half and Bordeaux have turned the screw and quite simply blown them away.

Try: Ulster 19-40 Bordeauxpublished at 17:10 Greenwich Mean Time

    Ugo Boniface (try) (80 mins)

Bordeaux cap the game off with a try in the last play of the game from Ugo Boniface.

A dominant spell of possession and territory ends with Boniface powering over from close distance.

The conversion sails wide but it's a dominant bonus point win for the French side.
