Bordeaux go into the break with a 19-point lead following a dominant first half.
The hosts scored four tries through Damian Penaud, Maxime Lucu, Pete Samu and Jon Echegaray. Matthieu Jalibert added points from the kicking tee with three conversions and a penalty.
A try from Alex Nankivell just before the break gives the hosts a lifeline but it has been a difficult first half for the Irish side.
