What a score from 18-years-old Caitlyn Halse.

An injury to sevens star Charlotte Caslick opened up the 15 shirt, Halse could be in it for the long haul.

Halse only made her debut last year. Born in 2006 so that makes me feel old.

Caitlyn Halse has the power and she has the pace and she bullies herself over the line and puts it down with the celebration. A perfect example of Australia knowing their roles and getting it right.

A break in play as one of the Samoan players has to go off for a head injury assessment following a heavy impact.

Sinead Ryder will probably be glad for a short break from the Australian onslaught.

She would love to celebrate it while the Aussies are still in the tournament.

    A very fine score!

Caitlyn Halse is just 18 years old, the youngest player to represent Australia at a Women's World Cup. But she was not daunted here as she shrugged off several challenges in her run from deep.

Ball in two hands, riding the tackles, swung around 360 degrees right before the line - but she kept her composure to score.

10 minutes gone, Australia have had 69% possession.

It has been a rough reintroduction to the World Cup for Samoa so far, after 11 years away.

It's another set-piece that was simple and through the hands. Miller just dotted it down for her first try in a World Cup.

Samoa are just getting done in the back field, Australia's kicks are finding grass every time. They need to get organised.

Desiree Miller is an interesting character - she's a former dancer who has performed at Disneyland. She showed some light feet to skip through for the try there.

She's a star in rugby sevens, but looks good stepping into the 15s game too.

    Too good.

Through the hands out to the left sideline, where wing Desiree Miller shows pace and strength to power over.

A difficult conversion, narrowly missed this time by Sammy Wood.

I spoke to Samantha Wood's father before the game. That was a confident strike from Wood to add the conversion.

Pretty sure I heard him willing it over.

Early points on the board for Australia. That was a well worked set-piece and breezy line-out though and Australia get the maul going and Samoa just can't stop it. This gets Australia comfortable and gets rid of those first game nerves.

You suspect the first of many.

Australia win their own line-out five metres from the Samoan line, and they inevitably drive over the line with hooker Katalina Amosa scoring.

The conversion from Samantha Wood is good too.
