    Ospreys 21-10 Newcastle

Now Ospreys captain Jac Morgan makes way and I'm sure Wales head coach Warren Gatland will be relieved to see the flanker off the pitch ahead of Monday's Six nations squad announcement.

    Morgan for Wales captain? It's a dead-cert isn't it?

    Ospreys 21-10 Newcastle

Newcastle know a third defeat will mean the end of Europe this year.

Ospreys know they have to get another try to ensure maximum points from this.

They don't want to be going to Pau needing a bonus-point win.

Maybe it's that pressure that is producing a scrappy second half.

  4. Close!published at 53 mins

    Ospreys 21-10 Newcastle

Big carries from Morgan Morris and Evardi Boshoff.

Owen Watkin carries and then gets the ball back to poke a kick through but Falcons Louis Brown just beats Dan Kasende to the ball.

Ospreys one try from a bonus.

You have to give it to [Newcastle scrum-half] James Elliott, he's put some great kicks up and it's allowed Newcastle to get a good chase.

Newcastle are just frustrating the Ospreys at the moment.

Will Spencer returns and Ospreys are back to full strength.

Newcastle failed to score a point during that 10 minutes. Disappointing.

Falcons know the clock is ticking down on the yellow card.

They're looking for an opening but are resorting to kicks that just aren't working.

Louis Brown has just clattered Dan Kasende after the Ospreys wing clearly called the mark.

    What was he thinking?

Falcons wasted a good attacking position there with a cross-field kick when they had numbers out wide.

Newcastle have been threatening when they've moved the ball.

Ospreys have had good turn overs from Jac Morgan and Justin Tipuric and even in attack, Tipuric is so good at keeping the line straight and Dan Edwards squares up.

If the Ospreys can get the attacking game going they will get a few more tires in this second half.

Dan Edwards has been so consistent this half.

He does all the basic skills so well, and that's what you need to do to play as an international fly-half

Ospreys number eight Morgan Morris told S4C: "We knew they were going to come with a lot of energy at the start and we probably could have done a better job at holding them out.

"But when we got into our groove and started playing rugby, we've been on top."

Ospreys head coach Mark Jones will not be happy with the way his side started that half while his opposite number Steve Diamond would have been delighted.

The more experienced home side have bounced back against the younger Newcastle outfit but Ospreys fans will want more from the second half.

A bonus-point win is what Ospreys need to keep alive their hopes of a Challenge Cup last 16 place.

Well... it started so brightly for the Falcons with the early try before Ospreys hit back with three tries in a 15-minute blitz.

However, they will start the second half with Will Spencer in the bin after a yellow card that opens the door for the visitors.

That (offside) is an elementary mistake by Newcastle and it's a real let-off from an Osprey perspective.

What a strange end to the half.

  19. Half-timepublished at 18:18 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    Ospreys 21-10 Newcastle

Max Pepper and Conor Doherty both go close either side of a couple of close-quarter drives from the Falcons forwards.

But the 14-man Ospreys defence holds firm on their own try line and that's the end of the half.

Not much in that for me!
