Right, with that impassioned speech, I'm off to bed.

Join us again next Friday night for Scotland's trip to Audi Field, Washington DC where they take on the USA.

It'll be tougher, that's for sure, but who doesn't like seeing Scotland score 11 tries in a game? It doesn't happen often...

    Have a good one, folks.

Some may argue that Scotland won't learn much from that, although I'm sure Gregor Townsend would beg to differ.

His youngsters had to deal with a strong Canadian start that could have thrown them, while also showing clinical precision in attack - scoring off almost every entry into opposition 22m.

These tours are about blooding youth, while also resting players - Finn Russell, Zander Fagerson, Grant Gilchrist, Blair Kinghorn - who have been going for almost 12 months straight.

Only time will give us the answer to this question, but for some, it is exciting to see some real young talent given a run-out wearing the jersey.

    FT: Canada 12-73 Scotland

Just got confirmation that that is Scotland's largest ever win over Canada.

The Canucks were also not far from conceding the most points they ever have in a Test match. 79 points was the record, against New Zealand in the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

One more converted try would have done it. Worth remembering that Scotland team was arguably weaker than the 'A' team that played Chile two years ago.

  4. What's to come?published at 00:11 British Summer Time 7 July

Light work in the end for Scotland, although it'll probably be the easiest of their games on this tour.

The next game is against the USA on Friday 12 July. That's one for the diehards, a 23:30 BST kick-off.

After that, BBC Scotland will air the trip to Chile on 20 July, with an 20:00 BST kick-off, and the final match in the tour against Uruguay in Montevideo a week later.

Arron Reed made his [second] try look easy, but it's a tough finish. He has to beat that last man Cooper Coats who is a strong defender.

It was length of the field stuff from Scotland. There's so much work that goes in to get the boys in areas to finish, but there's also a lot of skill in the finishes.

Scotland were offering themselves on inside support lines all night.

The only downside of this game is Harry Paterson has an unbelievable gash under his left eye. Hopefully it's not serious and won't rule him out of the remainder of this tour.

Lee Jones' reaction with you shortly...

After a shaky start, Scotland's young bucks recovered brilliantly to start their Americas tour with an enormous win over Canada in Ottawa.

10 debutants, 11 tries. It was the showing of a young side - excited and full of enthusiasm, but a little ill-disciplined at times.

Gus Warr, Harry Paterson and Arron Reed all showed up very well - to the extent that Gregor Townsend might have a headache when the real tests come.

    Reaction to come.

    Kyle Steyn

The clock is red but Scotland want even more, and they're back up right end of the pitch.

Through the phases they go, before Ben Healy unlocks the defence with a nice offload to Steyn to scurry in.

What a month for that man, huh? There's a real shout he deserves to be Scotland's first-choice winger.

Try number 11 for Scotland, with Healy adding the extras with the final kick.

Canada could end this game with a little more dignity if they can score with their final attack. They're going through the phases but the Scots are holding them out so far.

A rare mistake from Kyle Steyn sees Canadian scrum-half Jason Higgins tear towards the line, but Stafford McDowall tracks him down and wins the throw-in.

Cork-born Higgins thought he was in there.

Scotland's throw is loose and Kyle Styen gathers behind his own line. A sloppy finish to the game.

    Stafford McDowall

Matt Fagerson is the final change for Scotland as Gregor Townsend empties his bench. He replaces Josh Bayliss.

Robbie Smith lost his throw but Fagerson gathered and almost scored immediately.

The ball comes out and McDowall dances through the despairing Canadian defenders.

That's 10 tries for Scotland now!

Djustice Sears-Duru is on for Canada at loosehead prop. You Glasgow fans might remember him from a spell at Scotstoun in the 2016-17 season. He made four appearances.

Meanwhile, Will Hurd is back on after a quick stitch job on the touchline.

    Jamie Dobie

Another good move sees another Scotland try.

Ben Healy spotted the chance, popping to Arron Reed who ran an inside line and broke through. Dobie was on a good supporting line, and was able to sprint over.

    Healy nudges over the conversion.

After an unbelievable kick-chase, Kyle Steyn is held up over the line.

It was Arron Reed who hacked on, on the volley!

The ball bounced and pinged around before Steyn gathered and tried to drop over the line, but desperate Canadian defence kept him from dotting down.

Another penalty sees Canada down in the Scotland 22m with a line-out. This time they err, obstructing Scotland and conceding a penalty.

Ross McCann is the final debutant for Scotland, replacing Gus Warr with Jamie Dobie now moved to scrum-half.

That's now 10 debutants for Scotland today - a new record.

Will Hurd is back off though, he's taken a nasty blow to the head. Just a blood replacement at the moment.
