What a move by Scotland. Ireland did not see that coming. Really well played by Scotland. It must have been a pre-determined move because you can see Mattinson waiting for the wing to take the ball. They identified the gap and sensed a weakness in Ireland.

  2. try

Converted Try Ireland 0-14 Scotlandpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 2 August

    Lucia Scott (con Thomson)

A superb inside line cut by the winger as she takes a reverse pass off scrum half Caity Mattinson and carves the Irish defence open.

She goes under the posts and Lisa Thomson adds the extras on 22 minutes.

  3. Postpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 2 August

    Ireland 0-7 Scotland

Meabh Deely is under pressure after a kick in behind forces her to pick it up almost on the try line. She does well to pick up and consolidate possession.

Dannah O'Brien gets the kick away but it is a lineout to Scotland on the 22.

  4. try

Converted Try Ireland 0-7 Scotlandpublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 2 August

    Lisa Thomson (con Thomson)

Inside centre Lisa Thomson converts her own try after she takes advantage of a good turnover by Alex Stewart.

Thomson barges over despite Sam Monaghan's best efforts to stop her and get under the ball. Just over a quarter hour played and we have our first score.

  5. Postpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 2 August

    Ireland 0-0 Scotland

It's winger Amee-Leigh Costigan who latches over the ball to win a turnover on her own five metre line. She celebrates by flexing her muscles as she emerges from the ruck!

Eimear Corri-Fallon is pinged for not rolling away and Scotland go to the corner and get the maul rolling...

  8. Postpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 2 August

    Ireland 0-0 Scotland

Molly Scuffil-McCabe makes a scintillating break off the base of a ruck and makes it into the Scottish 22.

However, she is slightly isolated and Rachel McLachlan wins a superb turnover.

  9. Postpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 2 August

    Ireland 0-0 Scotlabd

The hosts are now into the opposition half thanks to another O'Brien boot. This comes after Deirbhile Nic a Bhair strips the ball off Alex Stewart.

  10. Postpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 2 August

    Ireland 0-0 Scotland

Scotland's lineout goes astray and Ireland clear their lines. Dannah O'Brien gets them outside the 22 with a clearance kick.

  11. Postpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 2 August

    Ireland 0-0 Scotland

Actually it is a penalty to Scotland after a high tackle from debutant Ivana Kiripati is spotted. Scotland knock the ball into the corner to set up a dangerous lineout.

  12. Postpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 2 August

    Ireland 0-0 Scotland

The Irish defence holds out well and a Scottish spillage gives them a scrum in their own 22.

  13. Postpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 2 August

    Ireland 0-0 Scotland

Some early exchanges end with a scrum to Scotland on the Irish 22 as Meabh Deely spills a grubber kick.

It has been a physical opening with some big hits going in. So much so that Deirbhile Nic a Bhaird is on for Grace Moore who is off for an HIA.

  15. Malcolm 'really protected her players'published at 14:01 British Summer Time 2 August

    Ireland v Scotland (14:00 BST)

    Lindsay Peat
Former Ireland forward on BBC iPlayer

There's been a bit of tumult around Scotland in the build-up to the World Cup. More than half the squad face uncertainty over their contracts, while head coach Bryan Easson will step down after the World Cup - a decision captain Rachel Malcolm described as "a shock" and "upsetting". Here's Lindsay Peat's take:

It's something you don't want to put on your players, that drama and deflection away from the journey and preparation. I have to give acknowledgement to Rachel Malcolm, I thought she handled it extremely well when she was speaking with the media.

She really protected her players and put a message out there. I think that will build resilience in this team but they'll want to go out and prove a point that Scottish Rugby should invest in them that little bit more.

Scotland edge out Ireland thanks to late McGhie try

Of course, Ireland hope to gain a measure of revenge today after losing this year's Women's Six Nations meeting with Scotland in dramatic circumstances.

Francesca McGhie's late try snatched a 26-19 victory for Scotland in Edinburgh.

Ireland dominated the first half and struck first through an Amee-Leigh Costigan try, but scores from Lana Skeldon and Emma Orr sent Scotland in at 12-7 in front at half-time.

Linda Djougang and Emily Lane scored for Ireland either side of a Rachel McLachlan try for the hosts before McGhie's score in the final play sealed an extraordinary win.

  19. First of two warm-up games for Irelandpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 2 August

    Ireland v Scotland (14:00 BST)

This is the first of two warm-up games for Ireland, who did not qualify for the last World Cup.

Scott Bemand's side will also host Canada in Belfast next week - which will also be live on the BBC.

Scotland, meanwhile, are hoping to sign off before the tournament with a win after losing 34-29 to Italy in Parma last week.
