Edinburgh fly-half Hannah Ramsay is handed a first start for Scotland.

Ramsay staked her claim when making her debut as a replacement in last week's defeat by Italy.

Now the 21-year-old will form a fresh half-back partnership with scrum-half Caity Mattinson against Ireland in Cork in two of several changes to the starting line-up that played in Viadana.

Chloe Rollie comes in at full-back, while Lucia Scott moves from full-back to wing.

In the pack, Anne Young and Alex Stewart are selected at loosehead prop and openside flanker respectively, with Rachel McLachlan switching to blindside and captain Rachel Malcolm moving into the second row.

On the bench, centre Beth Blacklock is poised for a first Test cap since the 2023 Six Nations.

Earlier this week, Scotland head coach Bryan Easson revealed Bristol Bears second row Hollie Cunningham will miss the World Cup through injury.

Scotland: Chloe Rollie; Rhona Lloyd, Emma Orr, Lisa Thomson, Lucia Scott; Hannah Ramsay, Caity Mattinson; Anne Young, Lana Skeldon, Elliann Clarke, Emma Wassell, Rachel Malcolm (capt), Rachel McLachlan, Alex Stewart, Evie Gallagher.

Replacements: Elis Martin, Leah Bartlett, Molly Poolman, Adelle Ferrie, Eva Donaldson, Leia Brebner-Holden, Beth Blacklock, Coreen Grant.

Speaking of Sam Monaghan, the Ireland skipper says she will "savour every moment" of her return from injury after 13 months on the sidelines.

"It was really emotional seeing my name on the team-sheet again, not only for me but for my family, team-mates, everyone that's been on the journey with me, physios, S&Cs," said Monaghan.

"You build up a hunger. It's kind of like you've been starving for the last 13 months and you finally get your opportunity.

"I'm sure I'll really savour every moment and just want to do the best I can for the squad around me.

"They've really looked after me the last year so I'll be extremely excited to get back out on the pitch with them."

Ireland captain Sam Monaghan returns to international duty this afternoon after 13 months out with a serious knee injury.

The Gloucester-Hartpury lock has been out of action since June 2024, with calf and hamstring injuries delaying her comeback.

Beibhinn Parsons provides another boost with the wing back in the side after missing the Six Nations because of a broken leg.

Eimear Corri-Fallon, who joins Monaghan in the second row, also returns after 12 months out.

There are three uncapped players in the squad with back row Ivana Kiripati and centre Nancy McGillivray set to win first caps from the start, while Ailish Quinn will do so if called upon as a replacement.

In what is a six-two split on the bench, there is plenty of forward experience around Quinn with Neve Jones, Niamh O'Dowd, Linda Djougang, Fiona Tuite and Deirbhile Nic a Bhaird also held in reserve.

Ireland are without key forwards Dorothy Wall and Erin King, who will miss the World Cup. Star back row Aoife Wafer is not involved today, but has not given up hope of featuring in the tournament.

Ireland: Meabh Deely; Beibhinn Parsons, Nancy McGillivray, Eve Higgins, Amee-Leigh Costigan; Dannah O'Brien, Molly Scuffil-McCabe; Siobhan McCarthy, Cliodhna Moloney-MacDonald, Sadhbh McGrath, Eimear Corri-Fallon, Sam Monaghan (capt), Grace Moore, Ivana Kiripati, Brittany Hogan.

Replacements: Neve Jones, Niamh O'Dowd, Linda Djougang, Fiona Tuite, Deirbhile Nic a Bhaird, Ailish Quinn, Emily Lane, Enya Breen.
