It started from Smith's kick to the corner from 30 meters, that really gives the forwards a boost.

They went to the back, the forwards couldn't quite do it so they added about three backs to the maul. I'm not quite comfortable with it.

  2. 'A sense of inevitability'published at 16:37 Greenwich Mean Time

    England 21-0 Japan

    BBC Sport at Allianz Stadium

There was a sense of inevitability in the crowd as Jamie George went over.

There isn't the same bounce in the stadium as there was over the last three weekends.

That is to be expected given the opposition. However, England are doing a professional job here.

  3. try

Converted Try - England 21-0 Japanpublished at 22 mins

    Jamie George (con Marcus Smith)

I told you it was coming.

Jamie George throws the ball in from the line-out before joining the back of the maul, which just keeps on rolling.

The England skipper dives over with the whitewash in sight and Marcus Smith adds the conversion.

  4. Postpublished at 21 mins

Tom Curry is walloped illegally off the ball and England decide to kick the resulting penalty into touch.

  5. Postpublished at 18 mins

    England 14-0 Japan

Ollie Lawrence is having his best game of the autumn and he wins another big collision in midfield.

The centre then makes another half break, but this time, his offload is slightly delayed and Henry Slade knocks on.

Japan have barely laid a glove in the opening stages.

  6. Postpublished at 15 mins

    England 14-0 Japan

On second glance, and with the help of the television replays, it looks like clear separation between Sam Underhill's hand and the ball before it was grounded.

England may have got away with one there.

  7. Postpublished at 16:27 Greenwich Mean Time

    England 14-0 Japan

    Paul Grayson
Former England fly-half on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

He looked good last week, he's so powerful and we know how destructive he is as a tackler but he slams the ball down with the right hand. A fit Sam Underhill brings superb physicality to all games.

  8. try

Converted Try - England 14-0 Japanpublished at 13 mins

    Sam Underhill

    Blistering start by England.

The ball is thrown in from the line-out and the red shirts trudge forward before Sam Underhill powers over from close range. The flanker doesn't bounce straight back to his feet, however, after grounding the ball.

Marcus Smith adds the conversion, but Underhill is taken off temporarily for Chandler Cunningham-South.

Great accuracy from England and it all started with the throw. It was a magnificent ball to the back of the line, the opposition tailgunners were all tied in.

  12. try

Converted Try - England 7-0 Japanpublished at 9 mins

    Ben Earl (con Marcus Smith)

    Opening try in the bag.

England run a set-piece move off the training paddock as Marcus Smith feeds an onrushing Ollie Lawrence to burst through in midfield.

The centre draws the final defender and pops the ball off for Ben Earl to run through and score under the posts.

Smith isn't missing the conversion from there.

Marcus Smith gets his hands on the ball in open play and the noise inside the Allianz Stadium just notches up a level.

The England fly-half is hauled down and the hosts recycle the ball wide before kicking forward.

The ball is back with Japan.

  14. Postpublished at 6 mins

    England 0-0 Japan

Jack van Poortvliet is on the turf as he receives some attention from the England medical staff.

Harry Randall is primed on the bench before being told to return to his seat.

The Leicester number nine is good to continue for now.

    Alastair Telfer
    BBC Sport at Allianz Stadium

The wind has died down. When I arrived at the stadium I was nearly blown off my feet.

To be fair, I am not the biggest lad, so nothing an international rugby player can't cope with.

  16. Missed penaltypublished at 4 mins

    England 0-0 Japan

I bigged him up in the build-up but Japan captain Naoto Saito falls victim to the swirling wind as his penalty doesn't have the legs.

    Let off for England.

  17. Postpublished at 3 mins

    England 0-0 Japan

Ben Earl is unfortunate to concede the penalty as he has little room to roll away but Japan point to the posts and will have the first shot at goal.

  18. 'Jones has rung changes with Japan'published at 16:13 Greenwich Mean Time

    England 0-0 Japan

    Paul Grayson
Former England fly-half on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

There have been lots of changes under Eddie, as you might expect. Out with the old, in with the new like when he was with England so you hope they swim rather than sink.

  19. Postpublished at 2 mins

    England 0-0 Japan

Japan try to find touch from a penalty but it falls into the Ollie Sleightholme bread basket and the England wing clips the ball forward.

It trickles out of play but the Englishman is not far behind and the crowd thought he nearly had it.
