Ahhh that should have been a third try for France.

It all started with Marine Menager, who held up four or five defenders on the left wing after fielding a kick from Mary Zulu.

The ball pops out of her grasp but is picked up by a France team-mate. They offload rapidly to shift the ball to the right wing and Joanna Grisez loosens her legs.

A desperate tackle halts her momentum but France keep chucking the ball around before giving a penalty away for obstruction after one juggle too many.

    This is fun.

South Africa have a scrum behind their own 10-metre line.

    That was a lovely try!

France get the shove on before Charlotte Escudero emerges with the ball. She pops it up to Pauline Bourdon Sansus and she passes left Gaby Vernier, who bursts through a gap and plops over.

They've been clinical whenever they've been within sniffing distance of South Africa's line.

It's still very scrappy in the middle of the park as France and South Africa fight over a loose ball.

France pop up with it and a good kick chase from Lina Queyroi pens South Africa back in their own 22 but France concede a third penalty to let the Springbok Women off the hook.

Neither side can keep hold of the ball.

However, France are guilty of an early push to hand the ball back to South Africa.

    France 0-0 South Africa

Well, that was a chaotic opening two minutes.

South Africa came out of the blocks flying, Mary Zulu forcing France's defence backwards from kick-off and then a clearing kick from Pauline Bourdon Sansus landing favourably in the arms of Maceala Samboya.

France get the ball back and try to find space on the left flank but a wild pass goes into touch.
