Neil Robertson is back at the Crucible after failing to qualify for last year's World Championship - the first time he was absent since his debut in 2005.

But the drop-off in form which led to the Australian falling out of the world's top 16 appears to be behind him.

Now ranked ninth in the world, the 43-year-old has won the English Open and World Grand Prix this season.

Given his talent and his longevity at the very top of the sport, it is amazing to think that Robertson has only ever appeared in one Crucible final - and that was when he won his only world title to date in 2010.

    Xiao 6-2 Selt

Frame eight went a bit scrappy at times, but Xiao Guodong gets over the winning line with a break of 39 and he leads 6-2 with one frame of this session remaining.

    Xiao 5-2 Selt

    Shaun Murphy
    2005 world champion

Matthew Selt is back in this match. Although he's three frames behind, the way he won the previous frame with that 131 just tells us that he's still there.

If he can find a way in with a scoring chance in this frame to make it 5-3, what a massive final frame of this session we'd be in for.

Matthew Selt makes a fantastic 131 break - that's the fourth century in seven frames on Table Two.

There are still two frames left to play in the first session of that match - you can watch them live by clicking on the "Watch and listen" tab at the top of this page.

  9. Lei takes final frame of session but Wilson leadspublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 19 April

    Wilson 6-3 Lei

Lei Peifan is 13 points ahead with 13 remaining but he's faced with a tricky pink - and he gets it!

Kyren Wilson will take a 6-3 lead into the final session, which is scheduled for 19:00 BST.

At 6-3, there's a glimmer of hope for Lei Peifan. 7-2 could be lights out.

  11. Postpublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 19 April

    Wilson 6-2 Lei

Kyren Wilson is perhaps thinking too much about position on the last red along the cushion as he misses a routine pink.

Lei Peifan puts the world champion in a snooker - which Wilson escapes from.

Wilson four points in front in this ninth frame - it's anybody's.

  12. Xiao adds another centurypublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 19 April

    Xiao 5-1 Selt

Xiao Guodong has his second century break of the match - a 109 - to move 5-1 in front.

He'll be ahead at the start of the second session at 10:00 BST on Sunday, regardless of what happens in these final three frames.

  13. Postpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 19 April

    Wilson 6-2 Lei

Lei Peifan breaks down on 41 - he tried to go in and out of baulk off the blue for the next red, but misses the pot.

Will Kyren Wilson punish him again?

  14. Postpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 19 April

    Wilson 6-2 Lei

What can Lei Peifan conjure up in the final frame of this session?

He's first in and the reds are mostly in decent positions - he needs to capitalise because being 7-2 down to Kyren Wilson in a race to 10 might just be too much to overcome when this match resumes later today.

  15. Super 136 break for Wilsonpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 19 April

    Kyren WilsonImage source, PA Media

Ken Doherty says in commentary that the only thing missing for Kyren Wilson today is a century... well, not any more. A magnificent 136 break puts him 6-2 in front.

Six frames in a row now for the world number two.

With the frame safe, there's a funny moment when Wilson catches the partition between the main stage and the first row of spectators with his backswing. It's so tight with two tables in there!

  16. Postpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 19 April

    Wilson 5-2 Lei

Kyren Wilson is back at the table once more and building his lead steadily in frame eight.

On the other table, Xiao Guodong has won the fifth frame to lead Matthew Selt 4-1.

  17. 'A frame that will hurt him'published at 12:21 British Summer Time 19 April

    Wilson 5-2 Lei

    Ken Doherty
    1997 world champion

These are great frames to win, particularly when your opponent was in first and should really have won the frame from his visit. When you come back and snatch it, you extend your lead and exert more pressure.

Lei Peifan is desperately in need of a good frame to settle himself down again. He started so well and it's all gone downhill from the second frame. This is a frame that will hurt him.

  18. Five in a row for Wilsonpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 19 April

    Wilson 5-2 Lei

Kyren Wilson punishes Lei Peifan with an 82 break to clinch his fifth successive frame.

It guarantees that the world champion will be ahead going into the second session, which is scheduled to start at 19:00 BST.

Still two more frames to be played in this session first!

  19. Postpublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 19 April

    Wilson 4-2 Lei

Lei Peifan has only scored 25 points in the past four frames.

Kyren Wilson's failed attempt at a long red leaves the 21-year-old from China an opportunity and it's one he needs to make the most of if he's to stem the flow of frames against him.

But the break ends on 43 when a split of the reds doesn't go well and he misses a tricky red to the middle.

  20. Wilson extends leadpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 19 April

    Wilson 4-2 Lei

Four frames in a row now for Kyren Wilson, as Lei Peifan knocks in an excellent red to the middle but can't keep his break going.

Three more frames to play in this session.
