    Higgins v O'Connor

John Higgins begins his World Championship campaign as perhaps the most in-form player at the tournament.

The Scot has won the World Open and the Tour Championship in the past couple of months, lifting him back up to third in the world rankings.

His first-round opponent is world number 30 Joe O'Connor, who Higgins beat in that recent World Open final.

He beat Mark Selby in last year's first round so he has proved he can deliver on snooker's biggest stage.
