David Gilbert was absolutely beaming as you might imagine in his post-match press conference a little earlier.
The Englishman is back at the single table set-up, with his only previous appearance in the last four at the Crucible coming back in 2019, the same year he hit a career-high ranking of 10th in the world.
He has slipped down them in recent times to sit 31st but has so far looked like one of the form players of the World Championship.
“It was an impossible thought not too long ago but I’m in the semis and feeling great," Gilbert said.
"It is a massive achievement. Only five weeks or so I couldn’t be bothered to play in the qualifiers, I thought 'just turn up take the £10,000 and that’ll be that'.
"I have a lot of confidence in myself and am motivated to prove to myself that I can go out and play.
"I miss being a top 16 player. I have had times in my career where I have pressed the self destruct button. But the motivation is back now. If I am sitting here on Monday night with the trophy, no one could be more proud."
Wilson 10-8 Higgins
Kyren Wilson was a beaten finalist in 2020 and he wants to go one better this time.
He looks in good shape and takes the second frame of the evening to move three frames from victory against John Higgins.
The winner will face David Gilbert in the semi-finals.

He knows how to dig in.

Six-time world champion on BBC Two
Ronnie's job is to keep Stuart in his chair for as long as possible.
Stuart has just got to try and force his way into the match, he's got to be patient.
But sometimes against Ronnie O'Sullivan you never see a ball.
