There have been occasions in the past where players have come back from six frames down to win in the quarter-finals at the Crucible.

Eddie Charlton (1978), Peter Ebdon (2005) and Shaun Murphy (2007) have all managed that particular feat but Stephen Maguire was 9-2 down at one stage in this encounter. He couldn't, could he?

Stuart had two fabulous chances to win that frame and, for all money, looked like winning it.

Bingham made a break of 60, but broke down with a bad miss.

O'Sullivan missed a tough red, only for Bingham to miss a black off its spot...and the 'Rocket' pounced.

Dave Gilbert needed that. After losing five of the previous six frames, he has one on the board and is now just two away from victory.

With two left before the mid-session interval, he would love to get it wrapped up quickly but Stephen Maguire may have something to say about that.

It's going to be a fascinating session, Ronnie O'Sullivan doesn't want Stuart Bingham to realise how good he actually is.

Stuart is a brilliant player - and he's starting to remember how good he was when he won the World Championship (in 2015).

That was a scrappy frame, but O'Sullivan pinches it after both players missed easy pots early on.

Not vintage by any means, but a break of 49 enough to level proceedings.

Judd Trump suffered a shock 13-9 loss to Jak Jones in the quarter-finals of the World Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.

Having resumed at 8-8 overnight, world number two Trump once again struggled to find his rhythm in a tactical affair that worked in his opponent’s favour.

Breaks of 87 and 61 helped Jones pull clear at 11-9 and the Welshman sealed a famous victory with a superb run of 106.

Jones will now play seven-time champion Ronnie O’Sullivan or 2015 winner Stuart Bingham in the best-of-33 semi-finals.

The 30-year-old, nicknamed the Silent Assassin, is playing in the tournament for just the second time and is aiming to become only the third qualifier to win the world title after Terry Griffiths in 1979 and Shaun Murphy in 2005.

A lot was made before the World Championship of a potential semi-final between Ronnie O'Sullivan and Judd Trump.

However, storylines often change at the Crucible Theatre and with Jak Jones having already dumped Trump out earlier, Stuart Bingham will be hoping to rip up the script here as well.

The Scot has won five of the last six frames in this match, and is now only three behind.

Bingham makes the perfect start against the 'Rocket', a superb break of 108.

Dave Gilbert, a 2019 Crucible semi-finalist, resumed with a healthy four-frame cushion over Stephen Maguire in their quarter-final clash.

Maguire won four of the last five frames in yesterday's penultimate session to give himself a lifeline of staying in the tournament.

Former potato farmer Gilbert, who at one stage led 9-2, remains favourite to reach his second Crucible semi-final but Maguire has a lead of 55 in the opening frame of the afternoon.

I think Ronnie should appreciate himself more like we appreciate him.

We've been blessed to have had such a talent in the game. Such a talisman and such an entertainer.
