    In the women's draw, Britain's Emma Raducanu booked a spot in the third round for the first time after beating Amanda Anisimova in straight sets. Raducanu will play Poland's Iga Swiatek next.

    World number two Swiatek defeated Slovakia's Rebecca Sramkova 6-0 6-1 earlier on Thursday.

    Britain's Katie Boulter was knocked out by Veronika Kudermetova after a 7-6 (7-3) 2-6 6-2 defeat.

    Tunisia's Ons Jabeur suffered an asthma flare-up in her tie against Colombian Camila Osorio, but came through to win7-5 6-3.

    There were also wins for Elena Rybakina, Emma Navarro, Daria Kasatkina, Jasmine Paolini, Danielle Collins, Madison Keys, Jaqueline Cristian, Beatriz Haddad Maia, Eva Lys, Yulia Putintseva, Elina Svitolinaand Dayana Yastremska.

    There was disappointment in Melbourne for Daniil Medvedev, who was knocked out by 19-year-old qualifier Learner Tien in the biggest upset of the tournament so far.

    The American wrapped up the second-round win at 02:54 local time in Melbourne after a four hour 48 minute battle.

    Medvedev, a three-time finalist in Melbourne, saved match point in the third set and forced a decider, but ultimately fell to a 6-3 7-6 (7-4) 6-7 (8-10) 1-6 7-6 (10-7) defeat.

    Tien is the third teenager this week, after Joao Fonseca and Jakub Mensik, to have beaten a top-10 player.

    There's plenty of tennis going on around Melbourne Park but let's start with a recap of what happened yesterday (and in some cases in the early hours of the morning in Australia).

    In the men's draw, fifth seedDaniil Medvedev is out of the Australian Open after losing a five-set thriller to teenager Learner Tien.

    Defending champion Jannik Sinner beat Tristan Schoolkate 4-6 6-4 6-1 6-3, although Schoolkate's Australian compatriot Alex de Minaur progressed to set up a third round tie against Francisco Cerundolo.

    American Taylor Fritz and France's Gael Monfils will be playing each other in the next round after winning their respective matches.

    Holger Rune overcame Italy's Matteo Berrettini in a four-set thriller to earn his spot in the next round.

    Brazilian youngster Joao Fonseca put up a fight but was unable to secure a win against Lorenzo Sonego to put himself through.

    There were wins too for Ben Shelton, Miomir Kecmanovic, Karen Khachanov, Lorenzo Musetti, Corentin Moutet, Marcos Giron, Alex Michelsen and Fabian Marozsan.
