  5. 'Mentally I have really competed hard'published at 14:13 Greenwich Mean Time

    Draper 6-4 2-6 5-7 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (10-8) Vukic

Jack Draper speaking on court following his five-set third round win: "Firstly, Alex played incredible. It was an unbelievably tough match. Both of us have played a lot of sets in our first couple of rounds so I knew it was going to be a really tough match. There were so many ebbs and flows. It was just great tennis. I always appreciate you guys staying out so late for us, it was a great match"

On leading 3-1 in the fifth set and being unable to capitalise on that: "I thought it was done and he just came back from the dead. He was playing incredibly. I think we are suffering a lot in the five sets and sometimes you get a little energy boost. It was just a great battle with two competitors going at it. That's what sport is all about so it was good."

On playing out three consecutive five setters after recovering from a hip injury: "My body doesn't feel too great, luckily I have a good physio! I think mentally I have really competed hard. I have loved the atmosphere and playing in front of loads of people. It's given me a lot of energy to keep pushing, so I'm surprising myself."

On facing Carlos Alcaraz next: "I'm just thinking about my recovery and getting off the court to be honest. I don't want to think about him yet. Carlos is a special talent, an unbelieve player and someone I have a good relationship with. I think it's going to be an incredible match and hopefully my body pulls up and I can give it my all. It will be a great contest."

Did anyone think, but not really think, that once Murray retired, we would see the end of nerve racking tennis involving our Brits. Bless you Jack for a wonderful gritty win, but I've no fingernails yet and haven't done any work on my laptop in over 3 hours from tension and addiction to this match.

As it turns out, he didn't need any warm-up matches or any lead-up tournaments.

He has had plenty of on-court time now!

There is real appreciation for Aleksandar Vukic and the effort he put out as he leaves court. He has so much to be proud of. If he can continue that level, he is going to be moving back up the ranks pretty rapidly.

But what a night for Jack Draper! He absolutely crushed this match.

Jack Draper got a little bit fortunate!

It was the net cord that Aleksandar Vukic had to adjust to.

My goodness - what is going to happen next!

    Draper 6-4 2-6 5-7 7-6 (7-5) 6-6 (6-6) Vukic

  18. 'Important for Draper to maintain his focus'published at 13:48 Greenwich Mean Time

On a 10-point tie-break, there is a lot more space to work with. Early leads aren't as detrimental to the player who is in the negative.

But it becomes equally important for the player in the lead, Jack Draper in this case, to maintain his focus. It is easy to have a slight let-down and then have a completely shift in momentum.

  19. Tie-breakpublished at 13:47 Greenwich Mean Time

    Draper 6-4 2-6 5-7 7-6 (7-5) 6-6 (4-4) Vukic

Ooofft. Jack Draper looks like he's overhit the forehand big time, but it drops just in time to kiss the baseline.

He fires the next point into the net and it stays all square.

  20. Tie-breakpublished at 13:46 Greenwich Mean Time

    Draper 6-4 2-6 5-7 7-6 (7-5) 6-6 (3-3) Vukic

Jack Draper misses his first serve and he's forced to engage in a lengthy rally before swerving a forehand wide. We're back level.
