Exceptional serving from Alcaraz so far. He has got so many ways to beat you. He is wise way beyond his years.

Alcaraz is going to move even further to his left when receiving, because Norrie has been able to make an impact on his first serve.

Serve and volley from Carlos Alcaraz to get the job done on his own serve.

Since those four break points in his opening service game, he's barely allowed Cam Norrie a point on his serve.

The defending champion is feeling it so far today.

  7. Postpublished at 17:46 British Summer Time

    Anisimova 6-1 6-6 Pavlyuchenkova*

    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Pavlyuchenkova gave the big screen a long, hard look there - she asked for a replay of the electronic line call... it won't change anything of course but she just wants to see how close it was.

Even when it shows the ball was on the line, she keeps glaring at it.... I'd almost think about changing my mind if I was the screen!

  8. Norrie saves break pointpublished at 17:45 British Summer Time

    Norrie 2-6 1-0 Alcaraz*

Cam Norrie clenches his fist after saving a break point on his way to a vital hold.

Things were looking dicey when Carlos Alcaraz smoked a forehand cross-court to bring up that break point.

But Norrie saves as he comes in behind a big serve out wide and puts a forehand away into the wide open court.

He battles through the next two points to go 1-0 up in the second. Cue big cheers from the home fans.

  12. Postpublished at 17:41 British Summer Time

    *Norrie 2-6 0-0 Alcaraz

    Jonathan Jurejko
BBC Sport senior tennis reporter at Wimbledon

The hubbub around Centre Court right now says a lot.

It's a mixture of excitement at seeing Alcaraz play so freely and shock at how quickly he's wrapped up the first set.

I'd guess some ticket-holders did not even see a point of the opener after going for a breather after Sabalenka's win.

The wait for the Pimms queue was probably longer.

  13. 'Alcaraz can go walkabout'published at 17:41 British Summer Time

    *Norrie 2-6 0-0 Alcaraz

    Greg Rusedski
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

One thing we know about Cam Norrie is he is dogged and determined and he will keep his concentration.

If he can keep some of his percentages up then Alcaraz can sometimes go walkabout.

  14. 'Norrie not bringing his 'A' game'published at 17:41 British Summer Time

    *Norrie 2-6 0-0 Alcaraz

Norrie is trying to stay positive at the moment despite the score. He has not been able to bring his 'A' game so far.

Alcaraz is so good at volleys. Whoever taught him should be getting calls all the time!

You don't want to start changing your game plan, however if it gets to that point, Norrie needs to go to Plan B.

  15. Second-set tie-breakpublished at 17:41 British Summer Time

    *Anisimova 6-1 6-6 (2-1) Pavlyuchenkova

The first two points go with serve before Amanda Anisimova thumps a big backhand right onto the baseline and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova buries her reply into the net.

She asks for a replay and it was correctly called in.

  16. Disbeliefpublished at 17:41 British Summer Time

    Anisimova 6-1 6-6 Pavlyuchenkova*

    Sonia Oxley
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Anisimova dropped to her knees on the baseline after overcooking yet another forehand. She simply cannot believe she has not wrapped up this match yet and is finding herself in a tie-break.

  17. Game and first set - Alcarazpublished at 17:39 British Summer Time

    *Norrie 2-6 0-0 Alcaraz

Volley nonchalantly put away at the net and it's one down, two to go for Carlos Alcaraz.

He has looked in great touch so far and holds to 15 to take the first set.

A run of slow starts so far in the tournament looked set to continue when he went down 0-40 in his first service game but he saved four break points and held.

Since then Cam Norrie has not had a sniff. The Brit needs to find his best form and hope Alcaraz's level dips significantly otherwise this could be over very quickly.

  18. Tie-breakpublished at 17:38 British Summer Time

    *Anisimova 6-1 6-6 Pavlyuchenkova

A wide serve is given the treatment by Amanda Anisimova: 0-15.

A thumped forehand, which hits the end of Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova's racquet and pings into the crowd, takes it to 0-30.

But has she has throughout the second set, Pavlyuchenkova fights back. Gleefully accepting a missed backhand and a missed forehand from her opponent, she takes the second set into a tie break.

  19. 'Alcaraz serving for the set already'published at 17:36 British Summer Time

    Norrie 2-5 Alcaraz*

    Andrew Castle
BBC Sport tennis commentator on BBC One

Just 25 minutes played and Alcaraz is serving for the set. Norrie has been able to go down to the end in every match he has played but there is not much to get behind him here.

People want to see Alcaraz play Sinner. They played an epic in the French Open.

  20. Norrie 'will fight to the very end'published at 17:36 British Summer Time

    Norrie 2-5 Alcaraz*

    Jonathan Overend
    BBC Radio 5 Live commentator

Norrie will not capitulate, he will fight to the very end.

But, against Alcaraz in the form he is, it might not be in his hands.

At least he has another game on the board now.
