While the rest of the media stood transfixed by Djokovic for 20 minutes or so on Tuesday, I wandered over to the next couple of practice courts - where today's opponents were going through their paces.
Britain's leading two singles players here - Jack Draper and Cameron Norrie were hitting on adjacent courts, before Liam Broady - a late call-up after Andy Murray's withdrawal - appeared shortly after.
It means all three singles players in the team are lefties - quite the anomaly.
"I don't think any of us has played too many left-handed players lately," said Djokovic, who has one of the game's most enduring rivalries with Rafael Nadal, of course.
"It was not easy to find a left-handed sparring partner, but we did well."
