This is one of the first games that Sabalenka has looked in control of her ground strokes but Raducanu is continuing to hold her own.

An incredible second serve from Emma. She has always possessed incredible composure and always takes time between points.

What the closed roof also does is create a proper din.

The greenhouse effect accentuates the noise of the pumped-up Brits and Centre Court is buzzing as much as your local boozer.

Lots of excited chatter, plenty of boisterous cheering.

Not quite at the hugs and swaying stage, but the 15,000 fans are bang up for a big one.

Friday night fun at its finest.

Emma Raducanu has improved her forehand so she is going to use that tonight to try to get ahead in points quickly.

If she gets an opportunity to get her feet set, she will want that forehand to ride.

    *Sabalenka 2-2 Raducanu

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

Raducanu is holding her own, she is not being intimidated and is giving Sabalenka plenty to think about.

I am not trusting in Sabalenka in those baseline exchanges. It will be interesting to see if the her first serve can do enough to do some damage.

With still plenty of British summer light left, you might be wondering why the Centre Court roof is shut.

This is outdoor lawn tennis after all.

The obvious explanation is Wimbledon organisers don't want to risk a short delay later on.

Closing the roof usually takes about 10 minutes and would deny precious playing time with the All England Club having to boot everyone out before the 23:00 BST curfew.

    *Sabalenka 2-2 Raducanu

Tracy Austin said earlier that Emma Raducanu's serve would be important in this match - it's a small sample size, but the early signs are extremely good for the former US Open champion.

Two aces, eight out of nine first serves in and when she's got the first serve in, she's won the point every time.

  15. 'There's definitely a needle between them'published at 20:16 British Summer Time

    Sabalenka 2-1 Raducanu*

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sabalenka is going to have to rely on some big serving today. There is more electricity around this than there was with the Alcaraz game, for sure.

There isn't much eye contact between these two, neither are looking at each other. You can sense that tension when players do that. Definitely a needle between them.

  16. 'Raducanu will want to climb all over the second serve'published at 20:15 British Summer Time

    Sabalenka 2-1 Raducanu*

    Tracy Austin
Two-time Grand Slam champion on BBC One

Emma Raducanu will want to climb all over the second serve of Aryna Sabalenka.

She will want to hit it hard and deep, probably down the middle, so that she doesn't give her opponent an angle.

There have already been a few unforced errors off that forehand wing for Sabalenka. She seems a little off-balance.

All other courts are done for the day at Wimbledon. All attention is on Centre Court.

Aryna Sabalenka rounds off a service hold with a tremendous cross-court winner.

    *Sabalenka 1-1 Raducanu

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

Raducanu never looks nervous. She always has lovely technique and free-hitting, no matter what stage she is on. You wonder how much of it is an element of bluff but she has already come out of the blocks quickly here.

Sabalenka takes a very knowing look to her support box, as if she didn't expect the strength of Emma's serve.

The chances are you have never heard of Adam Jones.

Jones is a 27-year-old tennis player from the Wirral, who is ranked 1,513th in the world in the singles and 619th in the doubles.

But he has one of the most important jobs at the Championships - warming up the stars before the matches.

Today he has already practised with two of the biggest names in the game.

This morning he prepared defending men's champion Carlos Alcaraz in the shadow of Centre Court, then headed to the quieter surroundings of the Aorangi Park practice courts this afternoon to hit with Emma Raducanu.

After practice he told BBC Sport: "It was the best quality of ball I've received from her. I think she's got a shot today. She's playing great."

Good stuff on serve from Emma Raducanu. A double fault blots the copybook slightly, but otherwise it's a routine hold from the British number one.
