Jannik Sinner wasn't a slider on grass courts until recently and I think that's really helped him getting in and out of corners.

The best people I've ever seen do it are Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek. A lot of male and female players are looking at how they can do that now. It's tough to do.

Jannik Sinner's rise to the top of the world rankings has come off the back of a magnificent first half of 2024.

The 22-year-old Italian won his first Grand Slam at the Australian Open at the start of the year and has since won titles at Rotterdam, Miami and Halle.

He has lost just three times this calendar year and made it to the semi-finals at Roland Garros before losing a five-set thriller to eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz.

Coming into the Championship in such good form, it's easy to see why Sinner is among the favourites to take home the trophy next weekend at SW19.

Jannik Sinner beats Matteo Berrettini in fourth set tie-break

Top seed Jannik Sinner made it through to the third round with a hard-fought victory over fellow Italian Matteo Berrettini on Wednesday.

Sinner, 22, had to grind it out at times against Berrettini, a finalist at Wimbledon, twice winning sets from a break down to win 7-6 7-6 2-6 7-6.

It was the Australian Open champion's second straight four-set victory at the start of these Championships.

That's a light schedule compared to his Serbian opponent Miomir Kecmanovic.

The 24-year-old beat India's Sumit Nagal in four sets in round one before coming from two sets to one down to win in five against 27th seed Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands.

This is just the second time Kecmanovic has reached the third round at the All England Club.

Settle in. It's going to be a good one.

More from Emma Raducanu about playing mixed doubles with Andy Murray: "I'll just take direction and follow his lead. I'll have to do a crash course in doubles tonight but I'll have fun tomorrow regardless. Of course, I will cherish the opportunity because it is just such an honour."

  7. 'I really enjoyed every single moment'published at 19:35 British Summer Time 5 July

    Raducanu 6-2 6-3 Sakkari

Emma Raducanu speaking after making it through to the last 16: "I think today was really up there with the most fun I have had on a tennis court, I really enjoyed every single moment. I was telling myself you don't know how many times you are going to get the chance in your life to play in front of a full Centre Court so I'm really grateful for the support.

On another top 10 win: "I'm most proud of how focused and determined I was in every single point, in every single moment. Maria [Sakkari] is a top 10 opponent. In a way, I came in with a free swing. But she is so tough, she has amazing weapons, I knew I had to battle. I tried to not let the scoreline affect me. You just have to play every point like it could be your last, not to be dramatic!"

On rediscovering her joy for tennis: "Having your inner passion, win or lose, I'm just trying to win every day. Just giving your best. Some days you win the day and play great tennis then that can be enough. Some days you can play amazing tennis and that's the key as long as you give you all every day."
