    *Raducanu 6-4 1-6 0-2 Joint

You would not think that Maya Joint had only previously won one competitive match on grass in her career - and that was in the first round here at Eastbourne.

But she is aiming for her third career main draw win over a top 50 player. The 19-year-old is one to watch.

She consolidates the break to 30, and has now won five successive games.

    And Raducanu sends it wide.

    *Raducanu 6-4 1-6 0-0 Joint

A chance to refocus and refresh now for Emma Raducanu. While her form went in set two, at least she doesn't seem to have any medical worries - no sign of a trainer, or any issues with her troublesome back.

But Maya Joint is covering more ground than the Road Runner today, chasing balls all day long and always making Raducanu play one more shot, forcing mistakes.

    Double fault from Raducanu, 30-40...

Emma Raducanu decides enough is enough in that set.

She has no intention of fighting further and will put all her energy into the third set at Eastbourne.

  5. Game and second set - Jointpublished at 15:18 British Summer Time

    Raducanu 6-4 1-6 Joint

While every Emma Raducanu service game is labourous, every Maya Joint service is smooth as silk.

Joint swiftly moves to 40-0, and seals it with a strike down the middle of the court which Raducanu lets fly by as she turns her focus and energy to the decider.

  6. Double break for Jointpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time

    Raducanu 6-4 1-5 Joint*

Everything is hard work for Emma Raducanu at the moment, sending forehands down again and again only to see them returned by the boundless energy of Joint.

Raducanu is given a time violation warning for taking too long on her serve, then pings one into the net. Joint is head to victory in this second set.

    *Raducanu 6-4 1-4 Joint

Worth noting that despite the gap in the scoreline, Raducanu is only one break down in this set. Raise her levels a notch and she is right back in it.

But Joint is still making her work hard, an overhit volley by Raducanu makes it 30-30.

A good volley by Raducanu puts her 40-30 up, but a miss down the line means deuce again...

    *Raducanu 6-4 1-4 Joint

While every service game at the moment is a struggle for Raducanu, Joint is moving through hers with ease.

    She holds to 15.

    Raducanu 6-4 1-3 Joint*

Another slip from Joint, that's the fifth time she has gone in this match and the third in this point alone. She looks extremely frustrated.

When she is on her feet, Joint is playing really well - she denies another game point for Raducanu with a blistering backhand.

Raducanu eventually gets over the line in the longest game of the match so far.

    *Raducanu 6-4 0-3 Joint

Brilliantly won point by Maya Joint! She is pulled hither and thither by Emma Raducanu, even slipping as she chases the ball - but she gets to them all and wins the advantage.

Raducanu saves that first break point, but Joint creates another with a backhand right to the baseline.

Then Joint slides over again! That's the fourth time she has hit the turf on the right of court today, in the same area every time. She may need some new trainers.

We are onto the fourth deuce in this point.

    *Raducanu 6-4 0-3 Joint

Raducanu could really do with holding serve here if she wants to get this match done in straight sets. But she trails 15-30...

A wild forehand by Joint allows Raducanu back level, then a well controlled crosscourt shot by Raducanu puts her 40-30 ahead.

But Joint forces Raducanu to go long. Deuce.

    *Raducanu 6-4 0-3 Joint

Ooh, another slip by Maya Joint - and this one is rather more spectacular, as she slides on her left thigh then crumples as she attempts to reach a shot wide to right of court.

It's another closely faught game, Raducanu expertly passing Joint down the line for 30-all.

But Joint sees it out, and has control of set two.

    Raducanu 6-4 0-2 Joint*

A really good deep return by Maya Joint brings up a break point. This is a big chance for the Australian.

And she takes it as Raducanu hits long. She did go 2-0 down in set one before recovering to win, but she would have rather avoided a repeat in set two.

  16. Postpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time

    *Raducanu 6-4 0-1 Joint

Emma Raducanu got herself over the line in set one, but Maya Joint is not giving up on this one without a fight. A brilliant two-handed backhand down the line from the Aussie makes it 15-30.

A brave unreturnable second serve from Raducanu takes her back level in the game, then Joint flops one into the net after the Brit hit a powerful return from virtually on her knees.

But then Raducanu hits long. Deuce.

  17. Postpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time

    *Raducanu 6-4 0-1 Joint

A slight slip from Maya Joint in the opening point of set two, but she recovers.

Joint has the greater power here, but Raducanu's tachnical ability is causing the Aussie plenty of issues - a well hit slice forces a mistake.

But Joint manages to hold to 30.

  19. How has Raducanu's form been?published at 14:39 British Summer Time

World number 38 Raducanu is building towards her fourth Wimbledon appearance, where she has twice reached the fourth round since her debut in 2021.

A run to the quarter-finals at Queen's was enough to see the 2021 US Open champion regain the British number one title for the first time in two years this month.
