  1. Djokovic holdspublished at 21:13 British Summer Time

    Djokovic 4-6 1-0 Alcaraz*

A sumptuous volley from Djokovic and he's back on track.

That's followed by a lovely forehand whipped down the line to seal the hold.

A big hold from 0-30, that.

Father Time is tapping on Djokovic's shoulder, it seems.

The 38-year-old Serb is not far off Alcaraz, who has actually been poor by his standards - but not close enough.

Djokovic, unsurprisingly, is not quite as sharp as we remember him against the very best.

Can Djokovic get back into this?

Alcaraz goes for power and it pays off for a 0-30 lead.

He overcooks the forehand and that hands Djokovic the first point of set two behind his serve.

I think that is one of the worst sets that Alcaraz has played at this Championships. Of course he is up against a better opponent, but he has got away with it.

There has been a lot of mistakes by his standards, the feel is not there yet

  5. Game and first set - Alcarazpublished at 21:07 British Summer Time

Alcaraz takes the set at the first opportunity with a big serve that Djokovic can only stick out a hopeful racquet at.

The Spaniard is well on top in this semi-final.

  6. Alcaraz set pointpublished at 21:06 British Summer Time

    Djokovic 4-5 Alcaraz*

Djokovic drops to his haunches as he misses the forehand. He knows that was big.

    Djokovic 4-5 Alcaraz*

Woops. Alcaraz winds up the forehand but slams it into the net. A rare miss. 30-30. Alcaraz needs two points for the set but two points for Djokovic would turn this set on it's head.

    Djokovic 4-5 Alcaraz*

What a point. Both players chase down the drop shot but it's Djokovic who comes out on top as Alcaraz can't chip the ball back in from close to the net. 15-15.

Well that's about as straightforward as it has been for Djokovic, he takes the hold to 15.

But now he'll have to do something he's not been able to do yet and that's break Alcaraz's serve.

The Spaniard will serve for the set.

    David Law

This has not been a 'classic' set as of yet. We have seen a few good exchanges and some great winners, but a lot of unforced errors and unusually inconsistent shots from both players too.

  11. Alcaraz holdspublished at 21:00 British Summer Time

    *Djokovic 3-5 Alcaraz

While every service game for Djokovic has been a struggle, it's been smooth sailing for Alcaraz by comparison.

He gets a hold to love on the board to put himself within one game of the first set.

    Djokovic 3-4 Alcaraz*

We have increasingly seen Alcaraz change his postion on the return of serve from point to point. He doesn't just have one way of doing it.

  13. Djokovic holdspublished at 20:55 British Summer Time

    Djokovic 3-4 Alcaraz*

More trouble here for Djokovic as Alcaraz gets to 30-30.

But the Serb nails the forehand to move to game point then a big serve gives him the hold.

Djokovic certainly enjoyed that zinger of a backhand winner in the fourth game.

Flicking his wrist through the air - as though he was cooling down his fingers - indicated how hot it came off the racquet.

Problem is there haven't been too many more of them. Instead the winners have been outweighed by errors as he struggles to keep a lid on Alcaraz's forehand.

  15. Alcaraz holdspublished at 20:51 British Summer Time

    *Djokovic 2-4 Alcaraz

Alcaraz ticks off another hold. Couple of forehand winners and a big 129mph serve. Job done.

The Spaniard still has that break of serve advantage.

There was just quite an angry exchance between Djokovic and his team there - maybe he isn't so calm!

    Annabel Croft

We always see so many characters from Djokovic on court and you never know which one is going to come out.

Right now looks incredibly calm, he looks like he is going to play with calmness rather than anger.

    Djokovic 2-3 Alcaraz*

Another missed dropshot from Alcaraz hands Djokovic a crucial hold.

Still early stages of this match but it already feels vital that the Serb stay in tough.

  19. Alcaraz holdspublished at 20:43 British Summer Time

    *Djokovic 1-3 Alcaraz

That glorious Djokovic shot is followed by a couple of not so glorious ones and Alcaraz takes the hold.

When I was watching Alcaraz practise the other day, I'm sure he didn't miss a single drop-shot.

    Casual, confident and clinical.

But the match court isn't the practice court, eh?
