    Osaka 4-6 0-1 Navarro*

Naomi Osaka is at the net and looks to feather a volley over the net, but she doesn't put enough power on it and that gives Navarro a break point, which she then takes.

The 19th seeded American is now a set and a break up, but there's plenty of time for Osaka to recover.

The crowd are on their feet. They think it's all over...

Joyful celebration greets Raducanu moving a set and a break up.

But let's not talk about 47 years of hurt just yet...

    *Raducanu 6-1 2-1 Mertens

    Tracy Austin
Two-time Grand Slam champion on BBC TV

This is what we call a steal.

Raducanu had great anticipation but still has to execute, and she did that perfectly.

Mertens comes into the net to set up the winner but Raducanu is just getting to everything at the moment. She's at full stretch but lets out a huge roar and fist pump as she meets the ball with a two-handed backhand.

What a performance so far from the Briton. She takes the break at the second time of asking.

    Raducanu 6-1 1-1 Mertens*

Well she saved four break points in her previous service game but can Mertens produce a similar feat here.

Raducanu goes long. One saved, one to go.

  6. Raducanu two break pointspublished at 18:01 British Summer Time 3 July

    Raducanu 6-1 1-1 Mertens*

What a shot. Raducanu hits it hard and straight down the line for 15-30 then Mertens skews her backhand wide.

Once again Raducanu has brought up a couple of break points.

We have a brief stoppage on the outside courts because of rain, but hopefully it is not long before play restarts.

  8. 'Mertens off to a better start'published at 17:59 British Summer Time 3 July

    Raducanu 6-1 1-1 Mertens*

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

Elise Mertens is in there fighting, she's trying to wipe the slate clean and forget about the first set and get off to a better start.

Just stop the rot there and it will just change things a little bit. It sets down a marker for the second set.

  9. Raducanu holdspublished at 17:59 British Summer Time 3 July

A really good second serve from Raducanu is slammed into the net by Mertens and that will be the hold. We remain on serve in set two.

    *Osaka 4-6 Navarro

    Alan Jewell
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Both players have enjoyed successful challenges in the past few minutes, drawing gasps from the Centre Court crowd when Hawk-Eye showed the original calls to be wrong. But Navarro's was on the most crucial point, denying Osaka a break-back point opportunity. The game was quickly gone and soon after the set, too.

    *Raducanu 6-1 0-1 Mertens

Mertens halts play to challenge a call. She thinks Raducanu's forehand was long but the Hawk-Eye does its job and shows the call was in fact good. 30-15.

  12. Game and first set - Navarropublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 3 July

The Hill's large screen's are showing two matches. Osaka vs Navarro on Centre Court and Raducanu vs Mertens on Court One.

I don't see many gaps to sit down and I can only guess which screen the fans are watching!

Not heard too many Belgian fans inside Court One, but I have spotted one bloke who is riding a Mertens-induced emotional rollercoaster.

Fair to say there are more downs than ups.

When Raducanu dusts the baseline with that audacious lob, he simply face palms.

  15. Mertens holdspublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Raducanu 6-1 0-1 Mertens

Well Mertens has done superbly well there to take the hold from 0-40.

Raducanu's forehand goes wide then Mertens produces a big serve that the Brit can only allow to ping off the rim of her racket.

  16. 'Mertens capitulated in the first set'published at 17:52 British Summer Time 3 July

    Raducanu 6-1 0-0 Mertens*

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

The first set was breathtaking, it was jaw-dropping how well Emma Raducanu was hitting the ball.

No let up at all, hardly any unforced errors.

Elise Mertens psychologically capitulated out there.

  17. Postpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 3 July

    Raducanu 6-1 0-0 Mertens*

Just when she needed it most, Mertens produces a brilliant forehand to save break point.

    Back to deuce.

    Osaka 4-5 Navarro*

A hold to love, including her third ace of the match, from Naomi Osaka, but Emma Navarro will now have a chance to serve out the first set.

  19. Postpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 3 July

    Raducanu 6-1 0-0 Mertens*

A little smile from Raducanu as she loops a backhand lob to the back of the court, sailing over the head of the retreating Mertens. She knows that was good.

A fourth break point for the Brit.

  20. Postpublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Osaka 3-5 Navarro

American Emma Navarro just about manages to consolidate that break of serve, after a Hawk-Eye call went in her favour by just a few millimetres. She's now one game away from taking the opening set on Centre Court against Naomi Osaka.
