    *Raducanu 6-1 5-2 Mertens

Mertens wins the first point off Raducanu's serve and you have to wonder whether a few nerves are creeping in at the crunch time?

Raducanu quickly puts that idea to bed by winning the next two points emphatically.

  5. 'Demoralising time for Mertens'published at 18:20 British Summer Time 3 July

    It's quite demoralising.

    *Raducanu 6-1 5-2 Mertens

Mertens does her bit and takes what is probably her most straightforward hold of the match.

Amy Joanne: Emma Raducanu is playing the best tennis of her life right now and I'm glad I'm here to witness it.

Gay Darke: Great to see Emma Raducanu looking so strong again. Reminder that the US Open wasn't a fluke, this girl has all the moves and more slams surely to come

That'll do. A pretty no-nonsense hold to 15 from Raducanu puts her well on her way to reaching the third round at SW19.

After just one hour and 10 minutes, Mertens will have to serve to stay in the match.

  10. Play resumes on outside courtspublished at 18:16 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Auger-Alisassime 6-4 7-5 6-7 (9-11) 3-5 Kokkinakis

The rain seems to have held and there have been quite a few warm-ups going on with matches starting to get back under way, including on court two.

Felix Auger-Aliassime, the 17th seed, has been playing Thanasi Kokkinakis in a thriller and despite nearly four hours of play, they're still in the fourth set.

They started yesterday and the Canadian had won the first two sets but it looks like it might go to a decider.

This would be a huge win for 93rd-ranked Kokkinakis if he turns it around.

It's all going swimmingly so far for Emma Raducanu.

She hasn't reached the third round of a Grand Slam since winning the US Open in 2021. She looks well on her way here and here's how she took the first set.

    Wow!

Raducanu is clearly just enjoying herself out there and we should too.

She plays the backhand slice drop shot and Mertens just runs out of steam, knowing she won't make it in time.

A set and a double break up. Raducanu is two games from round three.

Wow! This is shades of that US Open run! Emma having a lot of fun out there, it’s fantastic to see. She deserves this.

    Catie

Whilst I'm not going to get too carried away, given that Mertens isn't exactly amongst the very best players on tour, this has been a hugely impressive performance from Raducanu, especially given her lack of game time until recently.

    Raducanu 6-1 3-1 Mertens*

Mertens saves the break with a smash volley.

She has saved seven out of eight in this second set and she's going to have to try and do it again as Raducanu brings up another opportunity.

    Osaka 4-6 0-3 Navarro*

Emma Navarro gets a Hawk-Eye call going her way by a narrow margin and that gives her a double break and a commanding 3-0 advantage in the second set. Naomi Osaka is in loads of trouble now.

  16. Postpublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 3 July

    Raducanu 6-1 3-1 Mertens*

Everything is going the way of Emma Raducanu.

Mertens gets unlucky with a net cord which drops back onto her side of the net and that puts Raducanu on track for the double break.

This is in danger of running away from Naomi Osaka now and she faces two break points for a potential 0-3 deficit in the second set after losing the first, 15-40.

  18. 'Raducanu taking Mertens apart'published at 18:10 British Summer Time 3 July

    Raducanu 6-1 3-1 Mertens*

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

It just feels like Emma Raducanu is in the zone.

I don't think I've ever seen her hit the ball this well, this early and this confidently in the consistent way that she is doing.

This is going to put a few frighteners through the women's draw right now because there are not many players who can live with this level of ball striking and aggression.

It is extraordinary, she is absolutely taking Elise Mertens apart out here.

  19. 'Very good, to great'published at 18:08 British Summer Time 3 July

    Raducanu 6-1 3-1 Mertens*

    Tracy Austin
Two-time Grand Slam champion on BBC TV

Do not wake Emma up. This is very good, to great. Emma is feeling it now. This is spot on.

This is not Mertens playing poorly. This is Raducanu taking this match,
