Australia, however, will have to regroup quickly as they take on France at Manchester's AO Arena from 13:00 BST.

You'll be able to watch that on the BBC Sport website and app and on the BBC iPlayer.

There's also action taking place between Canada and Sweden in Group A, Czech Republic and South Korea in Group C and Netherlands and USA in Group D on Thursday.

Then, on Friday, GB are back in action and will take on Switzerland in their second lot of Davis Cup action.

Will we see some fresh faces or will Leon Smith stick with today's victors?

Great Britain's bid to reach the Davis Cup Finals knockout stage started with a tense victory as debutant Jack Draper beat Australia's Thanasi Kokkinakis.

    In the first of a best-of-three-match tie, 21-year-old Draper won 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 7-6 (7-4) against Kokkinakis.

Four nations - Britain, Australia, France and Switzerland - are playing in the group stage event held at Manchester's AO Arena.

They all play each other once in a round-robin event, with the top two countries going through to the knockout stage - known as the 'Final Eight' - in Malaga later this year.

Great Britain's Dan Evans speaking on court after his win: "I was incredibly nervous walking out, practising here, and it's a lot bigger than I expected and very much closer to the court than we've played before.

"It was amazing, thank you for all your support, I love playing in front of you all and I get another chance in about 30 minutes!

"I knew the tie was not over if I lost and Jack [Draper] played an amazing match and got us off to an amazing start and that made my job easier.

"He came out and got us a win and he has been amazing."

  9. Evans win seals GB victorypublished at 18:51 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    De Minaur 1-6 6-2 3-6 Evans

With that victory, Britain win the tie against Australia and get a point on the board regardless of what happens in the doubles match.

Unfortunately for Dan Evans, he doesn't have long to celebrate as he'll be playing in the doubles in the next 20 minutes or so.

The British team will still want to get a result from the final match because, if teams can not be separated by points come the end of the week, then the amount of sets a team has won will be counted. Basically, a result in the doubles match is important.

Evans will be alongside Wimbledon champion Neal Skupski up against Max Purcell and Matthew Ebden.

    De Minaur 1-6 6-2 4-6 Evans

    That's that!

What a match from Evans. He has De Minaur scrambling and falling all over court trying to make the return but eventually he sets up a stunning forehand winner.

What a superb win for the Brit, one of the biggest of his career against world number 12 De Minaur.

We said before the match he thrives on a home crowd and a bit of passion and he has given Great Britain a 2-0 lead in this Davis Cup.

Oooooh. If this is in then it's a ridiculously good shot.

Big serve from Evans and followed up with a big forehand but De Minaur thinks it's out...

It's not! Great call and shot.

Another big serve from the Brit brings up two match points...

Eeeek, Evans thinks he has it but the forehand just has too much zip on it and it's wide.

No mistake on the next point though as he stays patient in the rally and secures a vital hold.

The Brit is a game away.

All of a sudden that score line doesn't look as comfortable as De Minaur consolidates the break with an ace.

Evans is still up a break but he would've preferred to maintain the double.
