    De Minaur 1-6 5-2 Evans*

Evans nets the forehand but then De Minaur mis-hits his and it skews wide. The Brit closes the gap but only slightly.

De Minaur is still in a good position, here, with that cushion.

    *De Minaur 1-6 5-1 Evans

Ouch. There's the double break at the first time of asking.

De Minaur will now serve to force a decider.

  9. De Minaur three break pointspublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    De Minaur 1-6 4-1 Evans*

Hmm, where in that first set it was all going for Evans it just seems everything is going against him in this one.

He's missing forehands that he was nailing in the opener and his latest one brings up three break points for De Minaur.

  10. Postpublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    De Minaur 1-6 4-1 Evans*

Evans is clearly not a fan of the Team GB t-shirt. He's been messing with it all match and he's decided enough is enough and changed it before stepping up to the baseline to serve.

  11. De Minaur holdspublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    De Minaur 1-6 4-1 Evans*

De Minaur holds. Another fist pump and 'come on!' from the Australian.

His whole demeanour has changed in this second set, he looks far more up for it.

    *De Minaur 1-6 3-1 Evans

Ohhh no. Evans nets the drop shot but he didn't need to play it, De Minaur's forehand was going wide. That's unlucky for 30-0.

It just feels like De Minaur has managed to focus in this set and he's looking a lot more like the top 15 player he is out there.

  15. De Minaur breakspublished at 17:38 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    *De Minaur 1-6 3-1 Evans

A big roar and fist pump from De Minaur as he nails the forehand passing shot to earn another break point. He knows this is his time to strike.

This time there's no mistake from the Australian, a lovely forehand to the back corner of the court and that is the first break of the match for the world number 12.

    Is this the turning point?

    De Minaur 1-6 2-1 Evans*

We've had one hour of action in this match in Manchester and so far we're waiting for a player to blink in this second set but Evans misses the forehand and that will bring up a break point for De Minaur.

Evans has saved all four break points he has faced in this match, can he do it again?

  18. De Minaur holdspublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

    De Minaur 1-6 2-1 Evans*

Evans tries to wind up a big powerful forehand but smashes it into the net for 40-15.

A looped forehand sails out of court on the next point and that will be the hold for De Minaur.

It feels to me as though De Minaur is not enjoying the lack of pace. Evans isn't giving the Australian any pace to use.

This is the stage of the match when you would expect someone of the experience of De Minaur, especially at Davis Cup level, to dig in here.
