Playing a qualifier completely flips the script so far for what Emma has had to deal with in the tournament but I think she will find her way, settle in and find what she needs to do.

There’s that aggressive game from Lulu Sun which we heard about.

The early break has gone down like arriving at Sunday carvery only to find out they’ve ran out of Yorkshire puddings.

Emma Raducanu saves two break points with a couple of much better second serves.

But Lulu Sun nails the forehand dropshot on the third break opportunity to get off to a dream start in this match.

Too easy for Jannik Sinner so far.

If Ben Shelton is to see the quarter-final then he’s going to have to make it a fourth successive five-setter.

Ben Shelton uses a challenge at 15-15 when his shot is called long in the hope of preventing Jannik Sinner from taking a 30-15 lead.

Hawk-Eye shows a good inch or so of green grass between ball and line, though.

Sinner takes the second set without too much difficulty with one break enough to do the job.

The Italian is closing in on the quarter-finals.

Isn't it great to see the smile back on Emma Raducanu's face?

After the lows of last couple of years - struggling to adapt to playing full-time on the WTA Tour in 2022 and seeing last year cut short by injury - Raducanu says she is "obsessed with tennis right now".

The 2021 US Open champion was having fun down on the practice courts earlier today, looking relaxed as she hit with fellow Brit Liam Broady.

Also, it was encouraging to see there was no strapping on her right wrist.

Raducanu had surgery on both wrists last year which - of course - is a delicate area for tennis players.

Yesterday she pulled out her planned mixed doubles appearance with Andy Murray because of stiffness in her right wrist.

Lulu Sun is aiming to create a seismic shock today. It would not be her first one at the All England Club this fortnight.

One of the surprises of the tournament came when the New Zealander beat Chinese eighth seed Zheng Qinwen in her first-round match.

The leftie is an aggressive player who is not afraid to attack opponents from the baseline. She also uses the drop shot well.

"One of the other good things I've also noticed is how mentally strong she is," says David Long, a tennis reporter for Stuff NZ.

"In the second round of qualifying she was 5-1 30-30 up in the third set and had a meltdown.

"She had to save a match point at 5-6 and did that before being able to come through the match tie-break. It was impressive."

    Sun v Raducanu

    Leon Smith
GB Davis Cup captain on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

Raducanu’s played 10 grass court matches to this point and that’s going to help her no end at all. She also made a decision not to play Roland Garros and focus on her body, get ready for grass and that looks like it’s been a very good move for her and the team.

She did very well at Nottingham reaching the semi-finals, lost a very long battle against Katie Boulter, but an extremely high level match, it was really good tennis. She then made the quarters at Eastbourne.

She got lucky? Yes. Change of opponent but still you’ve got to do the job on that and I think she still would have won that, the way she was playing - she’s been fantastic.

Her last two matches were pretty much flawless, in offence, defence moving well, she’s showing good hand skills, good movement, it’s come together at just the right time.

No messing about from the All England Club.

About 10 minutes after Carlos Alcaraz departs, Emma Raducanu arrives to an enormous cheer.

Another follows when she turns and jogs to the baseline after the coin toss.

Not many people left in Centre Court as the punters take a comfort break.

But the anticipation is still high as a buzz hovers in the air.

You just have to laugh at some of the stuff that Jannik Sinner is able to pull off.

The Italian ends up on the floor as he slips when returning deep beyond the baseline, Ben Shelton senses an opportunity and executes a drop shot but Sinner somehow climbs to his feet, races to the net and wins the point!

But it's Shelton who takes the game to keep this set alive a little longer.

Sinner will serve for the set.

Emma Raducanu was out on the practice courts this morning preparing for her match on Centre Court.

She is looking to progress to the quarter-finals at the All England Club for the first time.

She was seen hitting with fellow Brit Liam Broady, who missed the Championships this year.

That's a question being asked by quite a few people this week.

Lulu Sun, ranked 123rd in the world, is the first woman representing New Zealand to reach the fourth round of Wimbledon in the Open era.

Sun was born on the South Island but had been representing Switzerland, where she was raised from a young age.

"She came to attention in New Zealand when she entered the ASB Classic in Auckland this year. Not many people knew she was born in New Zealand before that," says David Long, a tennis reporter for Stuff NZ.

"The effect was similar to what happens when Cameron Norrie plays in New Zealand - although he plays for Britain he is seen as a Kiwi by a lot of people back home.

"So Lulu got an incredible amount of support.

"During that time Tennis New Zealand started chatting with her and asked if she would be interested in swapping from Switzerland to New Zealand.

"Talks went on for a few weeks about what support she would receive and in March she made the switch over and played in the BJK Cup shortly afterwards."

Whenever Ben Shelton is about to hit the ball, he lets out a huge puff of the cheeks. I’ve never heard any other player do it.

Almost sounds like a boxer as they’re throwing a punch.

Jannik Sinner steps forward to send a forehand racing past Ben Shelton. 40-0.

But he gets it all wrong when he tries the same trick again, firing wide, to let Shelton on the board.

Another error allows Shelton to further reduce the deficit but Sinner won't let the American gain any further ground as he closes out the game with a serve and volley.

Next up on Centre Court is home favourite Emma Raducanu. She's just made her way onto court to take on New Zealand qualifier Lulu Sun.

The only Brit remaining in the singles - men's or women's - will be expected to make it through to the quarter-finals but she is certainly not taking Sun lightly.

"The preparation doesn’t change I don’t think, you just take it opponent by opponent," said Raducanu, who is ranked 135th in the world after injury issues last year.

"I'm expecting her to be really dangerous and come out swinging so it's going to be a really tough match."

Third seed Carlos Alcaraz speaking after reaching the quarter-final: "Playing lefties is always tricky, no matter the surface. I played my first leftie at Queen's so I learnt a little bit from that. I felt great playing today, I think I played a really high level and playing a leftie I tried not to think about it and just played my own game."

On what he would have said if he was commentating on how he sealed set point in the second set: "Unbelievable, I guess! I just try to fight for every ball, it doesn't matter which part of the court I am, I just try to run in whichever part of the court I am on. Giving myself the chance to stay alive in the point.

"Set point is a really important point for me so I had to show the opponent that whatever shot he shoots, I will be there. That's me, I will be there, fighting until the last ball and sometimes it is a good point like this one and sometimes I lose it but the main thing is just to fight."

On his tricks: "I just choose the shot when I am going to hit it. I don't think about it beforehand. I like the forehand drop shot, passing shot from the forehand or the lob tweener, that is my favourite shot so I try to find that in every match."
