  1. 'Bit of a lull at this stage of the match'published at 21:05 British Summer Time

    *Norrie 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 1-1 Comesana

    Ken Skupski
Former British player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

It's a bit of a lull potentially at this stage in the match, it's important that Cam stays on top of it to sort of keep control of this situation.

If you give away a break and all of a sudden you find yourself wasting 20-30 minutes of energy, then you're going to find yourself two sets to one.

It has a different feel than if you can finish this in three straight sets.

  2. Comesana holdspublished at 20:58 British Summer Time

    *Norrie 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 1-1 Comesana

World number 54 Francisco Comesana has a mountain to climb from two sets down and takes the first step with a straightforward hold of serve to level things early in the third set.

  3. Norrie holdspublished at 20:55 British Summer Time

    Norrie 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 1-0 Comesana*

After breaking to win the second set, Cameron Norrie keeps the momentum going with a comfortable hold of serve in the opening game of set three.

Novak Djokovic awaits in round three if Norrie can see this one out from here.

  4. Game and second set - Norriepublished at 20:50 British Summer Time

    *Norrie 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 0-0 Comesana

And there is the response from Cameron Norrie.

He races in to a 0-40 lead against the serve to bring up three set points.

This time he converts at the first time of asking and is now in the perfect position to advance to round three.

  5. Comesana breakspublished at 20:48 British Summer Time

    Norrie 7-6 (7-5) 5-3 Comesana*

Cameron Norrie can't close out this second set.

FOUR break points for Francisco Comesana and he eventually gets the break after Norrie sends a shot wide.

He's still alive in this set.

A minor wobble in the middle of that second set but Jessica Pegula sails into the third round of the US Open, where she reached the final last year.

That was comfortable for the American fourth seed and she gets the job done in just one hour and five minutes.

She will play veteran Victoria Azarenka next.

  7. Game and third set - Fritzpublished at 20:44 British Summer Time

  9. 'Comesana won't be feeling mentally great'published at 20:37 British Summer Time

    Norrie 7-6 (7-5) 5-1 Comesana*

    Ken Skupski
Former British player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

Cameron Norrie needs to stay on top here. He has done well to not give an easy break back.

Francisco Comesana won't be feeling mentally great. He knows he is so far behind in this set and he is probably thinking about starting the third set now.

  10. Blinkova breaks backpublished at 20:35 British Summer Time

    *Pegula 6-1 3-3 Blinkova

Anastasia Blinkova is not going away that easily and she immediately breaks back against the home player.

Tennis is so often about momentum and right now it is all on the side of Blinkova.

She followed up with a hold and will look to win a third game in a row to move ahead in this second set.

  11. Norrie holdspublished at 20:34 British Summer Time

    Norrie 7-6 (7-5) 5-1 Comesana*

It's another simple hold of serve for Cameron Norrie.

The Brit has weathered a bit of an early storm here and is pulling clear.

  12. Fritz in controlpublished at 20:33 British Summer Time

    Harris 6-4 6-7 (3-7) 1-4 Fritz*

Not only does Taylor Fritz have a double break in the third set against, but his opponent Lloyd Harris is really struggling with a hamstring injury.

Harris has called for a medical timeout at the latest changeover and, as he receives treatment from a physio, is shaking his head in that "I'm in real trouble here" kind of way.

  13. Norrie breakspublished at 20:30 British Summer Time

    *Norrie 7-6 (7-5) 4-1 Comesana

Cameron Norrie is taking control out there.

He forces even more mistakes from his opponent and picks up two break points.

The Briton uses his forehand to great effect and piles the pressure on in this second set.

  14. Pegula breaks early in set twopublished at 20:29 British Summer Time

    *Pegula 6-1 3-1 Blinkova

American fourth seed Jessica Pegula remains in control on Arthur Ashe.

Her opponent, world number 80 Anastasia Blinkova, is struggling with her serving and last year's runner up is taking full advantage as she moves to take the early break in set two.

  15. 'Is there a wind swirling around out there?'published at 20:28 British Summer Time

    Norrie 7-6 (7-5) 3-1 Comesana*

    Ken Skupski
Former British player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

I'm not sure whether that was a shanked first serve from Cameron Norrie at 40-15 up? It was 84mph and then he followed it up with a shanked forehand that almost trickled over the net like a drop shot.

It's hard to tell from the commentary box, but is there a wind swirling around out there or something? There were a few mishits earlier on in the match and it seems to be coming back here.

  16. Norrie holdspublished at 20:27 British Summer Time

    Norrie 7-6 (7-5) 3-1 Comesana*

Cameron Norrie backs up his break.

Francisco Comesana does well to stay in the game but the Briton is able to see it out and consolidate the break with a hold of serve.

  17. 'Comesana trying to bluff Norrie' on servepublished at 20:22 British Summer Time

    *Norrie 7-6 (7-5) 2-1 Comesana

    Ken Skupski
Former British player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

It looked like Francisco Comesana was trying to serve and volley on his second serve there, which is an interesting play. He has done more serve and volleying than I anticipated today, but he went really big there.

You wouldn't expect him to be the most confident coming forward, so I think he is trying to bluff Cameron Norrie and make his opponent feel like he needs to do more.

  18. Norrie breakspublished at 20:22 British Summer Time

    *Norrie 7-6 (7-5) 2-1 Comesana

    Breathtaking from Cameron Norrie.

He wastes three break points but an extraordinary forehand at deuce gives him a fourth and he's able to convert it.

A big moment in this match.

  19. Fritz breaks at start of third setpublished at 20:16 British Summer Time

    Harris 6-4 6-7 (3-7) 1-2 Fritz*

Taylor Fritz is assuming control of his second-round match now, breaking Lloyd Harris in the first game of the third set.

He follows that up with a hold of serve in about 90 seconds, held up only by one of the hardest-hit forehand winners I've ever seen by Harris. Would have ended up in Philly without the backboard stopping it.

  20. 'Norrie showing some great reactions at the net'published at 20:15 British Summer Time

    Norrie 7-6 (7-5) 1-1 Comesana*

    Ken Skupski
Former British player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

There's been a couple of times where Cameron Norrie hasn't pulled off his drop shot, but Francisco Comesana just failed to take advantage of it there and dropped it into the net.

Norrie is showing some great reactions at the net though, some nice doubles skills!
