Here's what women's doubles champions Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens had to say following their victory:

Kudermetova: "It's special, my first Slam in doubles. A few years ago I was playing in the final here and had a few match points and lost that final and it was so painful.

"I really wanted it and this is mine now."

An emotional Mertens adds: "I'm very happy Veronika is here beside me to win this one. It's been incredible."

    They've done it!

After two hours and 23 minutes, Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens complete their comeback from a set down, and a break down in the decider, to triumph on their team debut at Wimbledon.

It's an emotional moment for them, I'm not sure they can quite believe it.

  8. 'They will push themselves physically and mentally'published at 15:26 British Summer Time 13 July

    Sinner v Alcaraz (16:00 BST)

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

Jannik Sinner has been so clean in terms of how he strikes the ball. When you stand courtside and hear how he strikes a ball, it comes out of the strings so heavily, it’s so deep to the baseline and it pushes opponents backwards.

It’s the relentless nature of how he hits the ball and moves the ball around. It’s very clinical. He looks unflustered, it’s very difficult to read him.

He doesn’t have the variety that Carlos Alcaraz does on a tennis court, but we know what we’re going to get from him. His returns are exceptional, they remind me of Novak Djokovic’s returns.

These two will push themselves in terms of their physical and mental capabilities, it’s going to be a war of attrition and so fascinating to see who is going to blink.

  9. Kudermetova/Mertens break back in doubles deciderpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 13 July

    Sinner v Alcaraz (16:00 BST)

Around 600 of you reckon Carlos Alcaraz will win a third straight Wimbledon title today, compared to 200 backing Jannik Sinner to get revenge for his French Open final loss.

    *Hsieh/Ostapenko 6-3 2-6 4-3 Kudermetova/Mertens

Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens stand firm under pressure, eventually holding from deuce to stay in touch.

It's over to Hsieh Su-wei to serve for a 5-3 lead.

  12. The head-to-head recordpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 13 July

    Sinner v Alcaraz

While Sinner remains world number one, and will do so whatever happens today, Alcaraz leads their head-to-head record.

Victory in the French Open final was the Spaniard's fifth straight victory over Sinner, extending his dominance to eight wins from their 12 career meetings.

But - and there is almost always a 'but' where tennis stats are concerned - Sinner has won their only other previous meeting on grass.

That came here at Wimbledon back in 2022, when Sinner claimed a 6-1 6-4 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 success.

    Look how boyish they were...

  14. 'Sinner and Alcaraz are saving men's tennis'published at 15:14 British Summer Time 13 July

    Sinner v Alcaraz

    Pat Cash
Former Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 Live

How fortunate are we to have these two players come through?

Sometimes when you have a great era of tennis, there is a lull afterwards for a while. We have just come out of one of the most incredible eras and suddenly these two guys are stepping up. They've got a couple of years where they can grab so many grand slams and have these sort of five-set thriller matches. It's a great rivalry to have and it will be there for a couple of years. People gravitate to those great rivalries.

I always say Andre Agassi saved men's tennis when he came back and these guys are saving men's tennis now.

  15. Hsieh/Ostapenko break in deciderpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 13 July

    Is that the decisive breakthrough?

Jelena Ostapenko and Hsieh Su-wei hit the front in the final set, breaking Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens to give themselves the chance to serve for a 4-2 lead.

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner may just be starting to up the intensity of their warm-ups now.
