Sinner finds a little opening with a lovely drop shot but fires long with the forehand for 15-15.
A ripping backhand winner down the line prompts oooh's from the crowd before Sinner latches on to the dropshot and whips a cross-court forehand winner past the Spaniard.

There are so many details within this match, but what happens is it comes down to the important moments. Who can come up with something special at 30-40 or hit their targets with the first serve?
That's why they are the two best players in the world. And that's what makes it so fascinating when they go head-to-head in a Grand Slam final.

Some big serving from Sinner wraps up an efficient hold to love.
Alcaraz just a little over-zealous on the return.

I thought beforehand there would be staunch support in favour of Alcaraz on Centre Court.
But it's a little more even then I expected.
The Spanish accents are matched by Italian ones as shouts of encouragement are traded at the changeover.
But the Alcaraz fans are one-nil ahead in the national-coloured bucket hat competition.

I think it's fair to say neither of the players are hitting very cleanly from the back of the court. There's not long rallies, they're just trying to find their feet, their serves are saving them. So far both players are feeling the nerves.

It will be interesting to see who dominates the slightly longer rallies. Alcaraz will be looking for the serve and volley if Sinner extends the rally.
Both have so much firepower they can turn defence into attack at any moment.

Sinner can't get his backhand on the slide over the net after Alcaraz sends down a crunching forehand.
Two big serves from the Spaniard put him firmly in control at 40-0 but a couple of errors offer Sinner a glimmer.
That is until Alcaraz sends down a 139mph serve to wrap up the hold.

Don't you just hate it when work gets in the way of big occasions?
Jannik Sinner's dad Johann knows the feeling.
He's a chef at the family's Haus Sinner restaurant in South Tyrol and couldn't attend the French Open final because he was working.
Perhaps he booked off this weekend in advance and got some cover.
You can't miss your son's first Wimbledon final. He's here today.
Sinner 1-1 Alcaraz*
That's more like it from Sinner. An ace brings up game points but he fires his forehand long to keep Alcaraz in touching distance.
Another ace wraps up the game for the top seed.

Quite uncharacteristic from Jannik Sinner. We spoke about the consistency of his game, but there were two easy backhands he missed.

If you think about whether there is scar tissue or not from the French Open final, Jannik Sinner has bounced back very well here.
He is playing with borrowed money, having been two sets down against Grigor Dimitrov. He can play with freedom, he has nothing to lose.
*Sinner 0-1 Alcaraz
Sinner not quite firing on that backhand side just yet and he nudges another one into the net for 15-15.
*Sinner 0-1 Alcaraz
Another ace takes Alcaraz to 30-0 before Sinner's backhand can only find the net.
A backhand long from the Italian hands Alcaraz a very comfortable hold to love to start this Wimbledon men's final.
Dream start for the Spaniard.
Sinner 0-0 Alcaraz*
Carlos Alcaraz gets us under way on Centre Court. With an ace on his second serve.
That's not a bad start.

Right then, final predictions? Carlos Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner?
Up for Alcaraz, down for Sinner.

Alcaraz wants to stop Sinner from dominating from the baseline. You do that with the best pair of hands in tennis. He can really rip forehands and control a point. He can change his grip and mixes the game up by using the backspin of the ball.
Carlos has his opponent moving backwards and then has the ability to take the ball to the other side.
Sinner v Alcaraz
Jannik Sinner still has that strapping to his right elbow. He did not seem hampered by that in his semi-final match against Novak Djokovic on Friday so surely that's just a precaution.

Alcaraz has the ability to embrace the pressure. He enjoys when things get tight. Not that many top tennis players can say that. Carlos senses that electricity around the point and that really inspires him and focuses him.
He has a little bit less capacity than Sinner to relentlessly focus on each point in the match but when you give him something that is champagne and caviar, he will show up for it. That is such a special quality.
Sinner v Alcaraz
Novak Djokovic's hopes of an eighth Wimbledon title were ended by Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals.
But the 24-time Grand Slam champion is tipping Carlos Alcaraz to retain his title for a third straight row.
"I will give a slight edge to Carlos as a favourite because of the two titles he's won here and the way he's playing and the confidence he has right now," said Djokovic.
"But it's just a slight advantage because Jannik is hitting the ball extremely well.
"It's going to be, again, a very close match-up like we had in Paris."
