Derry triathlete Aileen Reid has dropped to 13th place in the overall World Series standings after finishing 17th in the latest round in Austria.

Reid completed the event in Kitzbuhel in 1:07:27, more than four minutes behind the winner, Great Britain's Jodie Stimpson.

Australia's Emma Jackson was second and Anne Haug from Germany third.

Reid has 1372 points in the series ahead of the next round which will be staged in Hamburg in two weeks' time.

The Irish competitor had been in eighth place in the standings prior to the Austrian event.

The Kitzbuhel course has received a makeover this season with the usual Olympic distance format of a 1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run reduced in favour of using the natural assets of the Alpine venue.

The event took in a sprint 750m swim, followed by a 11.55km cycle and a concluding 2.55m run.

The Irish number one finished 12th in the previous leg in Madrid which followed 12th, 17th and eighth positions in the earlier series events.

A recent brief spell at home saw Reid taking victory in the City of Culture Triathlon in her native Derry.
