USA's Elana Meyers Taylor and Canada's Kaillie Humphries have become the first women to race in a four-person event in World Cup bobsleigh history in Calgary.

Humphries finished 15th with a two-run time of one minute 48.87 seconds with Meyers Taylor 16th in 1:49.52.

They are the first women to race with men since the World Cup bobsleigh circuit was created in 1984.

Great Britain's Lamin Deen, Bruce Tasker, Ben Simons and Andrew Matthews finished fifth out of 17 in 1:48.27.

Latvia's Oskars Melbardis, Daumants Dreiskens, Arvis Vilkaste and Janis Strenga won the event in 1:47.84.

The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation have recently ruled the discipline is gender neutral.

Meyers Taylor teamed with Dustin Greenwood, Carlo Valdes and Adrian Adams in the Classroom Champions sleigh.

Humphries, Olympic champion in the two-women bobsleigh, teamed with Dan Dale, DJ McLelland and Joey Nemet.

The pair qualified for the event by finishing five races on three tracks within two seasons.
