Summary

  1. Pick 17 - Minnesota Vikings select Dallas Turnerpublished at 03:10 26 April

    Linebacker - Alabama

The Minnesota Vikings trade back up to take the Jacksonville Jaguars' 17th pick to sign talented edge rusher Dallas Turner.

Turner was high on many a mock draft and rated among the best defensive players in the class - and Minnesota recognised they could go get him.

They've offloaded a lot of picks to the Jags but if they were as high on Turner as many others, having him still available at 17 was too tempting to ignore.

  2. 'The best defensive tackle in the draft'published at 03:09 26 April

Former Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles scout Daniel Jeremiah talking about Byron Murphy II on Sky Sports: "The best defensive tackle in the draft, fast and sharp. He beats blockers. Only five sacks doesn't seem a huge number, but he is highly disruptive. This is a league that values defensive tackles and he is very good."

  3. 'I told the doctors I'd be playing again'published at 03:09 26 April

Defensive end Laitau Latu speaking after being drafted by the Indianapolis Colts to NFL Network: "I told all the doctors I'd be playing football again. I knew it, I manifested it. I trusted in me, trusted in the lord, he's got a plan for all of us.

"It definitely becomes fuel and I definitely want to prove it at Indianapolis."

    Defensive tackle - Texas

The best defensive tackle in the draft is heading to Seattle to join the Seahawks, who are getting a bit of a bargain due to that incredible run of quarterbacks earlier.

Many had Longhorns star Murphy going a lot higher than 16.

  6. 'The most natural rusher in the draft'published at 02:58 26 April

Former Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles scout Daniel Jeremiah talking about Laiatu Latu on Sky Sports: "He's got the most diverse spine of attack. He is a hands technician. He went to the Senior Bowl and competed throughout the process. He was the most natural rusher in the draft."

  7. 'Latu couldn't play a few years ago'published at 02:56 26 April

Former Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles scout Daniel Jeremiah on Sky Sports: "A few years ago, Laiatu Latu was not medically cleared to play football. I bet he is feeling so emotional right now."

  8. Pick 15 - Indianapolis Colts select Laiatu Latupublished at 02:55 26 April

    Defensive end - UCLA

Finally we have our first defensive player off the board as the Colts pick defensive end Laiatu Latu to try and beef up their pass rush.

Latu has had some severe injury problems and at one point retired from football, but he worked his way back and now finds himself the top defensive player in the draft.

    A great draft story.

  9. 'Fuaga is right behind Alt'published at 02:49 26 April

Former Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles scout Daniel Jeremiah on Sky Sports discussing Taliese Fuaga being drafted by the New Orleans Saints: "For me, he is right behind Joe Alt. He is powerful and nasty. He's got excellent balance. He got penalties and I tried to figure out why he got penalties and I think it's just because he looks so mean.

"He could've sat out of the Senior Bowl but he wanted to do it and show himself. I gave him straight As throughout that whole process."

  10. Pick 14 - New Orleans Saints select Taliese Fuagapublished at 02:48 26 April

    Tackle - Oregon State

The Saints follow the offensive trend as they select right tackle Taliese Fuaga, who is another big unit who is aggressive and tough when protecting his quarterback.

Derek Carr will be a happy man having Fuaga in the squad, who looks pretty much ready to start right away next season.

  11. 'Cousins not informed of Penix move'published at 02:45 26 April

Former Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles scout Daniel Jeremiah on Sky Sports discussing Michael Penix Jr's move to the Atlanta Falcons: "Kirk Cousins was not given a heads up on the Michael Penix Jr deal."

During the 2023 season, Georgia tight end Brock Bowers was described by ESPN's Peter Burns as being a "toddler".

It sounds unusual but really, it is quite the compliment.

"You can not leave him alone in public, you need to have two people around him at all times and never take your eyes off him," Burns posted on X.

A major in finance, Bowers, 21, has been regarded among the greatest tight ends in college football history.

Bowers is the only player to ever win the John Mackey Award twice, given to college football's most talented tight end each season.

In all three of Bowers' seasons in college football, he has led the Georgia Bulldogs in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns.

Bowers was part of the Bulldogs side to become CFP national champions in 2021 and 2022.

  13. 'If he was healthy during the spring, he would not have been here'published at 02:40 26 April

Former Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles scout Daniel Jeremiah talking about Brock Bowers on Sky Sports: "This is value. When you've watched college football and you watch Georgia, Brock Bowers is the best player on the field every single game. If he had a clean process and was healthy during the spring, he wouldn't have been here for the Raiders."

  14. 'Get your guy'published at 02:39 26 April

Former Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles scout Daniel Jeremiah talking about Bo Nix on Sky Sports: "All of the quarterbacks are gone. He's played a lot of football, 61 games. I thought the Broncos would trade down, but the other five guys had gone. That's the key to this draft, don't trade cute, get your guy."

  15. Pick 13 - Las Vegas Raiders select Brock Bowerspublished at 02:39 26 April

    Tight end - Georgia

Still no defence! The Las Vegas Raiders have never been a team to shy away from offensive talent and Brock Bowers is rated as one of the best tight ends to come out of college for years.

Bowers has been a superb target over the middle, making tough catches and then producing some incredible yards after the catch.

Former NFL quarterback and TV analyst Chris Simms describes Bo Nix and his talents.

"Bo Nix has it all. Controls the ball really well, he’s a tremendous athlete, only Caleb Williams throws it better on the run, and I’d say his backyard playmaking ability is elite.

"He does all the NFL-type stuff really well – he can read the field and make the right throw at the right time. And his scrambling, I think only Caleb Williams is better than him in this draft."

  17. Pick 12- Denver Broncos select Bo Nixpublished at 02:34 26 April

    Quarterback - Oregon

Wow! The quarterbacks just keep on coming! That's now six of the top 12 picks in the draft being triggermen as the NFL obsession with the position continues.

Oregon's Bo Nix was a dark horse as a sneaky good quarterback, maybe just overshadowed a bit by the other names in this very deep draft class.

  18. Defence wins championships?published at 02:32 26 April

NFL teams seem to have forgotten the old adage as for the first time ever we've had the top 10 picks in the draft without a defensive player being chosen.

We have instead had five quarterbacks chosen in the top 10 for the first time in history. It's a quarterback league alright.

  19. 'Fashanu would've been a top-five pick last year'published at 02:29 26 April

Former Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, and Philadelphia Eagles scout Daniel Jeremiah on Sky Sports: "This is the left tackle of the future. He is a pure left tackle. If he was in the draft last year, he would've been a top-five pick. You want to see him be a bit more consistent in his run game, but he was more consistent in that in 2023 compared to 2022."

  20. 'JJ McCarthy wins'published at 02:29 26 April

Former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Joel Klatt on Sky Sports: "JJ McCarthy wins. He has a record of 27-1. He can win big games and championship games, that's what JJ did. He had to be selfless enough to play in the Michigan system and he is that guy."
