Summary

  1. Pick 6 - New York Giants select Malik Naberspublished at 01:55 26 April

    Wide receiver - LSU

A wide receiver from LSU - the same as Odell Beckham Jr - will hopefully add some juice to a fairly slow New York Giants offence.

Malik Nabers was challenging Marvin Harrison Jr for the top receiver in this class, and the G-Men would like to think they've got the better deal.

There was talk of Big Blue opting for a quarterback, but they've got for a wideout instead for Daniel Jones to throw to. And he won't have to throw it far as Nabers is a run after the catch monster.

Offensive tackle - University of Notre Dame

Standing 6ft 9in tall and nearly 23 stone, Alt combines size and athleticism which is pretty rare for his position.

The 21-year-old helped Notre Dame to 39.1 points per game, second best in school history, and the left tackle is ready to make an instant impact for the Chargers.

New Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh loves to play a physical brand of football - and Alt will provide great protection for QB Justin Herbert.

Another first-round pick with family pedigree, his dad John was also huge - 6ft 8ins - and played 13 seasons in the NFL for the Kansas City Chiefs while his older brother Mark is an NHL player.

"Having his background has been very helpful for me and he’s taught me so much,” Alt told PFF, speaking about his dad. “But there’s always a little pressure. Obviously, he was a great player and did a lot. Now I have the lineage, so I want to continue that.”

  3. 'The Chargers are going to give Herbert a running game'published at 01:51 26 April

Former Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles scout Daniel Jeremiah on Sky Sports: "Joe Alt in two years went from a tight end to a left tackle and is now the fifth pick in the draft. I'm sure he can go from left tackle to right tackle. They are going to protect Justin Herbert and give him a running game."

  4. Pick 5 - Los Angeles Chargers select Joe Altpublished at 01:49 26 April

    Tackle - Notre Dame

College champion coach Jim Harbaugh returns to the NFL and selects the huge left tackle Joe Alt with his first pick as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.

He's a man mountain and fits with Harbaugh's tough running style of football he likes to play.

They've got a superb quarterback in Justin Herbert in LA, now Harbaugh wants to protect him and also give him a stout run game to help him flourish.

  5. 'I am super blessed' - Harrison Jrpublished at 01:43 26 April

Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr after being drafted by Arizona Cardinals to NFL Network: "I'm going to work as hard as I can, be the best I can, and I'm honoured to be here.

"I trust my abilities, I've worked so hard to be here. I am super blessed."

Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr told ESPN his goal is "to be best receiver to ever play" so it is fair to say he has plenty of confidence.

The 21-year-old has spent his college career with the Ohio State Buckeyes, scoring 29 touchdowns across the 2022 and 2023 seasons combined.

Many of the pundits' top prospect from wide receivers in this year's NFL draft, Harrison received the 2023 Fred Biletkinoff Award given to the standout receiver in college football.

Although he was ineligible for the 2023 draft, he ran routes for C.J. Stroud on last year's Pro Day, with Stroud being taken as the second pick in the first round of the draft by the Houston Texans.

Following his 2022 season, where he scored 14 touchdowns for Ohio State, Harrison Jr was given the Richter-Howard Receiver of the Year and was a unanimous all-American.

He has plenty of pedigree too - his dad is the Indianapolis Colts legend of the same name who won the 2007 Super Bowl.

  7. 'Harrison is ready this year'published at 01:42 26 April

Former Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles scout Daniel Jeremiah on Sky Sports: "This is a big-time playmaker. The Arizona Cardinals need a difference-maker. He is a number one wide receiver this year and he is ready to make a difference."

  8. 'I love what New England are doing'published at 01:42 26 April

Former Super Bowl-winning quarterback Kurt Warner to NFL Network: "Drake Maye is going to have to clean up some of the technique, but if he does, he's definitely got the physicality. I love what New England are doing."

  9. 'I'm ready to win a lot of football games' - Mayepublished at 01:42 26 April

Quarterback Drake Maye after being drafted by New England Patriots to NFL Network: "Let's go, I'm ready to go and compete, join New England, win a lot of football games and have fun."

  10. Pick 4- Arizona Cardinals select Marvin Harrison Jrpublished at 01:39 26 April

    Wide receiver - Ohio State

College football's best wide receiver last season is heading from Ohio to the desert as the Arizona Cardinals decide to supply their quarterback Kyler Murray with a premier receiving talent.

Harrison's got obvious pedigree with his Hall of Fame father, now it's his time to go and prove himself in the NFL.

At just 21, Drake Maye is one of the youngest players in the draft tonight but at six-foot-four and 230lbs he's one of the bigger QBs in the class.

He's played just two full seasons in college for the Tar Heels, with last year being slightly down on his stellar first full campaign due to a lack of talent around him.

Being sacked 30 times and having 25 passes dropped showed what he was working with last season - but he has poise in the pocket and while not an uber-athlete like some he is still more than handy with his feet.

Only his inexperience is the major red flag but he's built like an NFL quarterback.

  13. 'Maye can start new Patriots era'published at 01:34 26 April

Former Dallas Cowboys safety Charles Davies on Sky Sports: "It's a new era for the Patriots and they can make that happen with Drake Maye.

  14. Pick 3 - New England Patriots select Drake Mayepublished at 01:34 26 April

    Quarterback - North Carolina

The New England Patriots also go with a quarterback, so that's the top three all triggermen as teams look to find their star men.

It's a tough spot for a young QB to step into in the post-Bill Belichick era in New England, but Maye doesn't have to start right away as the Pats have a safe pair of hands in Jacoby Brissett.

But if the young QB can impress in the summer he may get on the field sooner rather than later.

  15. 'Washington will get everything out of me' - Danielspublished at 01:32 26 April

Jayden Daniels to NFL Network after being drafted by Washington Commanders: "I was pretty confident. I'm not trying to play games but I was pretty confident.

"I'm here to get to work. Washington will get everything out of me, I'm a competitive hard worker that wants to win football games."

  16. 'Commanders are now must-see TV'published at 01:31 26 April

Former Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles scout Daniel Jeremiah on Sky Sports: "This has gone from an unwatchable product to must-see TV with Washington signing Jayden Daniels."

A real dual threat quarterback and one-man highlight reel has been electric with his arm and his legs during college.

    QB - LSU

The current Heisman Trophy winner, 23-year-old Jayden Daniels starred at Arizona State but really exploded when switching schools to play at LSU for his final two seasons in college.

He's a one-man highlight reel and the speedster in the QB class he can really move as a runner, but he can also make eye-catching throws as well.

Tackling him has proved beyond most college defenders but while elusive, his slender build is the one negative as he steps up against the big boys in the NFL - so he'll need to learn to protect himself, and perfect his slide.

Daniels did bulk up a bit in his final year, when he scored 10 rushing touchdowns, and even beyond his running ability he polished up his deep ball markedly.

  19. Pick 2 - Washington Commanders select Jayden Danielspublished at 01:27 26 April

    Quarterback - LSU

Another team in dire need of a leader, the Commanders also go for a quarterback they hope can be the face of the franchise.

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner certainly has a highlight reel that will give their fans plenty of hope for the future.

Just like Williams, he comes bouncing out onto the stage with an enthusiastic bro hug for the commish - he best be careful though as Roger Goodell has recently had back surgery...

  20. 'What Williams has been dreaming of'published at 01:27 26 April

Former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Joel Klatt on Sky Sports: "This guy has a competitive fire in his eyes. This is what he's been dreaming of, not just this moment but being the number one pick. He wanted to go to a franchise to change the culture and be the engine for."
