    Ken Doherty

This is not the John Higgins who was winning all the time but he is not far off. There is a little piece of the jigsaw missing.

    Higgins 9-6 Jones

    Jamie Jones fights on.

  7. Postpublished at 21:35 25 April

    Higgins 9-5 Jones

Jamie Jones has a 20-point lead with just the colours remaining (worth 27) remaining.

He plays the yellow across the table but has left it over the bottom right bin. John Higgins is playing this with pace from the top cushion...but gets it all wrong and Jones cuts it in and rolls in the green.

He can't waft the brown into the middle though and we go on with Higgins needing a snooker. He'll have his work cut out with the black on the top cushion and the blue and pink on their spots.

  8. Postpublished at 21:29 25 April

    Higgins 9-5 Jones

Jamie Jones has John Higgins in a snooker and the Scot coughs up four, eight, now 12 points.

He doesn't want to leave this red but has to the right corner. Jamie Jones plonks that in but now has an equally difficult pink to the left middle.

It's there...but how's your luck, he's flicked the yellow safe.

  9. Postpublished at 21:26 25 April

    Higgins 9-5 Jones

Jamie Jones needs this frame to stay in the World Championship but has a rather big problem, namely a red just above the knuckle of the right middle.

He plays himself into a position to try and roll it in but that's not dropping.

    There's some tension building.

  10. Postpublished at 21:23 25 April

    Higgins 9-5 Jones

John Higgins gets to 37 then takes his eye off a pink to the left corner.

Jamie Jones with a second chance. Possibly his last?

  11. Postpublished at 21:19 25 April

    Higgins 9-5 Jones

When John Higgins is at his best this would be the sort of opportunity he'd snaffle up for frame and match.

  12. Postpublished at 21:18 25 April

    Higgins 9-5 Jones

It's all getting a little bit scrappy here with a red over the left corner. Jamie Jones blinks first going for a ambitious plant using two reds on the cushion.

He nearly gets lucky with reds flying everywhere but two stay just above the right middle. John Higgins with a choice of three or four reds drops one into the bottom left corner.

  13. Trump snatches fifth framepublished at 21:17 25 April

    Trump 3-2 Ford

Tom Ford looked disgusted with himself as a missed red into the bottom left halted his break of 63.

And well he might. It ultimately cost him the frame, with Judd Trump keeping his composure and going on to clear the colours as the 2019 world champion goes back in front.

    Higgins 9-5 Jones

With the black up on the brown spot and the pink unavailable Jamie Jones is feeding off scraps here.

He tries to free the pink but unfortunately runs out of position with 26 points next to his name.

  15. Postpublished at 21:09 25 April

    Higgins 9-5 Jones

How often do you see that? The player that has the better of the safety exchange doesn't profit?

John Higgins plays a longish red with a touch check side but can't send it dancing into the bottom corner pocket. With that much action on the white it barely travels back past the pink spot and gives Jamie Jones a welcome opportunity to get going.

  16. Postpublished at 21:02 25 April

    Higgins 9-5 Jones

John Higgins strokes in a long red but can't get position on the green. The four-time winner keeps things tight with his next shot, tucking up behind the green.

John Higgins' pot success is at 96% this evening. That is always going to get the job done. He has stepped up a gear.

  18. Higgins on the cusp of victorypublished at 20:56 25 April

    Higgins 9-5 Jones

John Higgins gets to 71 ahead with 67 on the table. He elects to put Jamie Jones up tight against a red rather than putting things beyond any doubt.

Will he be made to pay? It looks unlikely as he strokes in another long red. Jamie Jones decides enough is enough and concedes.
