Deputy Yvonne Burford has been elected to Guernsey's senior committee with 20 votes.

Policy and Resources (P&R) voted for the politician to replace Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq at the election on Thursday.

Le Tocq stood down from P&R last month after being charged with creating more than one thousand indecent images of children.

Despite early indication that the vote would go uncontested, Deputy John Gollop was also nominated and received 14 votes.

Due to States rules, Deputy Burford will now be replaced as president of the Development and Planning Authority (DPA).

DPA Vice-President Marc Lainé has said he will not stand for election as DPA president, but said he knew there was interest in the role.
