Both dogs needed emergency treatment, police say

Police have appealed for the owners of two dogs found injured in a Rotherham park to come forward.

Officers said they had responded to concerns about dangerous dogs at Eldon Road Playing Fields, in Eastwood, on 25 October.

Initial reports had suggested the dogs were being encouraged to fight each other but when officers arrived only the animals were found.

Nobody was hurt in the incident, but both dogs required emergency treatment, a spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said.

South Yorkshire Police said the dogs were being housed at police kennels.

"We are appealing for the owners of these dogs to come forward, and for anyone with information as to how the dogs came to be loose to get in touch with us," a spokesperson said.
