Geithner: 'Encouraged by progress' euro leaders are making

US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner says he is encouraged by Europe's efforts to fix its debt crisis - vital for the region and for rest of the world.

China said it will focus on booming emerging regions like Latin America and Asia as the downturn in Europe and the US has hit its exports hard.

Mr Geithner met the French President earlier, ahead of a key summit at the end of the week.
