How caring for grandchildren can boost state pension
Grandparents who look after their grandchildren even just once a week may find it is enough to boost their state pension.
They can use a largely unknown rule to get credits on their National Insurance record, which then makes them eligible for a full state pension.
Paul Lewis from Radio 4's Moneybox programme told BBC Breakfast other relatives could also benefit - but there were three main qualifying conditions relating to the job status of the parent and the ages of the child and his or her carer.
