Help to Buy boosts number of planned new-build homes

There has been a big increase in the number of property developers registering their intention to build new homes.

It follows the government's Help to Buy scheme which so far has enabled people to buy new properties.

BBC Breakfast heard from Chris who could not have bought his new house without the scheme.

Ian Davies from the National House Building Council said the increase was down to both greater confidence and people being able to access finance.
