Osborne defends bank regulation

George Osborne has defended the government's efforts to regulate banking after Labour urged him to block any attempt by Royal Bank of Scotland to pay bonuses of up to double its bankers' yearly salary.

"This government has done more than any to bring the banking system back under control," he said.
