Abe seeks to boost Japan's business ties with India

Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is seeking to strengthen economic and political ties with India on a three-day trip to the country.

Mr Abe, who was a guest of honour at India's Republic Day parade on Sunday, is being accompanied by a large business delegation from Japan.

Over the weekend, Mr Abe and his Indian counterpart, Manmohan Singh, signed co-operation agreements in the telecom and energy sectors.

The BBC's Shilpa Kannan explains what is bringing the two countries closer.
