Lunar New Year demand for new banknotes

Across Asia, millions of brand new banknotes are printed each Lunar New Year for use in "hongbao" or traditional red packets.

It is customary to give out the red envelopes at family or social gatherings as a gift and a means of sharing good fortune.

In Singapore, the lowest denomination note is for $2 and they are so popular that 100 million of them are printed for the holiday celebrations.

Timothy McDonald went to find out how local banks are coping with the demand for new banknotes.
