Budget supermarket Lidl is to become the first major supermarket to pay its staff the recommended living wage.
The company will become the first UK supermarket to implement the rate set by the Living Wage Foundation.
From October, employees will earn a minimum of £8.20 an hour across England, Scotland and Wales, and £9.35 an hour in London.
Speaking to BBC News, Lidl UK chief executive Ronny Gottschlich also talked about expansion plans and how they keep prices down.
