Age UK urges action on elderly-targeted scams

More information on scams needs to be made public to allow people - and particularly the elderly - to protect themselves, a charity has warned

Officers working for National Trading Standards (NTS) identified 10,843 victims of scam mail in the year to April, with victims an average age of 74 and typically losing more than £1,000 each.

Ruthe Isden of Age UK said the findings were "deeply concerning".
