Ucas: Lots of university courses available through clearing

Record numbers of university places are on offer as pupils in England, Wales and Northern Ireland find out their A-level and AS-level results.

An extra 30,000 university places are available this year and it is expected that over 500,000 places will be allocated for courses starting in the autumn.

Ucas chief executive Mary Curnock Cook told BBC Breakfast that more than 400,000 places had already been allocated but that there were also a lot of courses advertising places through clearing.
