The Bookshop Band pen novel songs inspired by authors
The Bookshop Band are three young singer-songwriters who take their musical inspiration from one specific source: books.
The idea for the band came from the owner of Bath bookshop Mr B's Emporium of Reading Delights, who wanted to find a new way of engaging the public with literature.
Three years ago he commissioned the trio to write and perform a song based on a book that was being promoted at an author event. Since then, the band have been touring bookshops across the UK, have played at Glastonbury and are due to perform at this year's Womad festival.
The band already have a legion of literary fans - including author Rachel Joyce, whose novel The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry is just one of the books which has inspired the trio.
BBC News spoke to band members Poppy Pitt, Ben Please and Beth Porter - and to Rachel Joyce, who returned to the Bath bookshop to hear them play her their take on her latest novel, Perfect.
