X Factor returns for tenth series

ITV talent show The X Factor begins its tenth season on Saturday.

The singing competition has struggled in its annual ratings battle with BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing in recent years but producers hope a number of revamps to the format will boost its audience.

The programme has launched the careers of some of music's biggest stars - and biggest haircuts.
