LGA: 'Parents deserve choice of schools'
Almost half of England's school districts will have more primary pupils than places within two years, the Local Government Association (LGA) has said.
Some local areas will face a 20% shortfall in places by 2015, according to analysis of official data from 2012.
Speaking to BBC Breakfast, Councillor David Simmonds from the Local Government Association said that "a number of factors" had led to the situation and urged an end to the "bureaucratic barriers" preventing more money being spent on schools.
"Councils are working extremely hard to make sure they fulfil not just the legal duty, but also the moral responsibility, they have to ensure that access to a choice of good quality schools is available to everybody", he added.
