Gavin Turk: When modern art meets opera

Avant-garde artist Gavin Turk has designed the set for a new opera being performed in London.

Inspired by the structure of Puccini's Il Trittico, Triptych is made up of three short operas - a tragedy, a comedy and a piece about nuns - and touches on the themes of obsession and alienation.

Turk is largely known for his art installations and neon works. This is his first theatre commission.

The artist gave BBC News an exclusive look behind the scenes of Triptych and explained how he went about creating the set.

Triptych is being performed at The Print Room in London until June 7
