David Cameron denies NHS policy 'humiliation'

David Cameron says it is not a humiliating U-turn but has acknowledged that the government is accepting all of the major changes suggested by an independent panel of experts to its controversial plans to restructure the NHS in England.

That includes tighter controls over competition within the health service and slowing down the pace of change.

Labour says the original plans have been demolished but the prime minister says the government has listened, learned and is now improving its plans.
